Ghost kitchen or coffee van? Both look simple. Neither is. I put the UK rules, council fees and the catches into plain-English guides, with sources. Written with AI assistance, checked by me. opportunityvalidator.com/guides/is-a-co…
Two weeks in: 55 visitors last week, 5 free checks (all finished), 1 paying customer ever. Reddit is the only channel that's worked so far. Short video got views but no clicks. Fewer channels next week.
Week-one lesson from launching a UK business idea checker: a commenter said a bare "21%" reads like a verdict on you, not the idea. Changed the wording the next day. "High risk as it stands" plus a line saying it's about the plan, not about you. Tiny change, much kinder tone.
A sceptic on Reddit asked "why not just ask ChatGPT?"
So I shipped a public sample report, filterable evidence and hurdles grouped by when they hit.

@sadia82105 I'd spend the first £500 proving one thing: will a stranger pay for it? Everything else (branding, premises, stock) can wait until someone says yes with their wallet, not just "great idea".
Week one of Opportunity Validator, a free UK business idea checker.
What I've learned: speed matters (45s down to ~20s), and a bare "21%" confuses people, so I added a scale and a plain-English verdict.

Before you quit your job for a business idea, check three numbers:
1. What it costs to run for 6 months with zero sales
2. What your first customer actually pays
3. How you'll find that first customer
Most ideas fail on number 3.
Friends say "great idea!" because they're polite.
Data doesn't.
What business idea are you thinking about? Drop it below and I'll tell you the biggest risk I can see.
