We delight in leaving an inheritance for our children, but a greater inheritance than money exists. It is the inheritance of a faith-culture. A son may inherit your land and still lose his way. A daughter may inherit your savings and never learn to give thanks. But when children inherit the habits of prayer, hospitality, fidelity, and worship, they receive a way of living that can bless generations beyond your own. Yes, help and build wealth, but if the sun is your limit, your money has no ultimate purpose. If you live for the sun, heaven will always remain far away.

The CREC reported nearly 4,000 baptisms over the past three years. That's about eight baptisms per church per year, on average. Considering that our average congregation has around 85 worshipers on Sunday, the number is remarkable. That means nearly a tenth of the average congregation comes to the font each year. Some larger congregations report over 30 baptisms annually. It's not hard to see why this number is so high: the CREC cultivates a culture of covenantal continuity where children are raised in the faith of their fathers. Further, many Baptist families who come in gladly and gradually embrace this covenantal understanding, and in time, bring their children to the font. While we continue to see young people and adults coming to baptism, the vast majority of our baptisms are infants. This reflects something fundamental about how we view the Church. Our congregations believe God's covenant promises belong to believers and their children, and that these children should be nurtured from their earliest days in the faith and obedience of Jesus Christ. The font, therefore, is not an occasional feature of congregational life but a visible testimony to God's faithfulness from one generation to the next. And the font leads naturally to the table. These are two central pieces of furniture in the household of faith. The child who is welcomed into the covenant through baptism is also welcomed to the covenant meal, where the same Lord who receives our children nourishes them throughout their lives. One of our favorite hymns sung during baptisms is the traditional Lutheran piece "God's Own Child I Gladly Say It." It encapsulates who we are as a people and how we view the status of our little ones: There is nothing worth comparing to this lifelong comfort sure! Open-eyed my grave is staring: Even there I’ll sleep secure. Though my flesh awaits its raising, still my soul continues praising: I am baptized into Christ; I’m a child of paradise! #CRECstats

Instead of all the Jesus movies, they should make a super suspenseful TV series about Early Christians, with all the hiding, secret gatherings, persecution, counterculture, fish signs, samizdat scriptures, show trials, existential level theology debates, dumb evil myopic emperors, genius letters, upside down crucifixions, lions eating virgins in arenas, etc. -- and it would be super relevant for how culture evades, evolves, spreads and transforms today.

This month marks 500 years since a small, illegal book began slipping into England hidden in bales of cloth and barrels of goods. It was William Tyndale’s English New Testament, and it changed the world. Published in 1526, it was the first English NT translated directly from the original Greek… but Tyndale was far more than a translator. He was a scholar, theologian, linguist, reformer, and martyr whose work helped reshape the English Bible, the English language, and the Reformation itself. Here is why we need to remember this remarkable man: 📖 Tyndale believed Scripture belonged in the hands of ordinary Christians, not locked behind Latin, clerical authority and scholarly privilege. When challenged by a wealthy clergyman, he famously declared: "I defy the Pope and all his laws. If God spares my life, ere many years I will cause a boy that driveth the plough to know more of the Scriptures than thou dost." To do it, he fled England and spent years translating in hiding while authorities hunted him. 🗣️ He shaped the English language. Every time you say: • “The salt of the earth.” • “My brother’s keeper” • “Eat, drink and be merry” • “Go the extra mile” • “Fighting the good fight” • “Broken-hearted” …among so many other phrases, you are quoting Tyndale. When English lacked words for Hebrew concepts, he invented them: atonement, Passover, scapegoat, mercy seat. He even included the first glossary in an English Bible to help readers understand his translation choices. His extraordinary gift for English became the foundation for the King James Version, weaving his words into the very fabric of our language. 👑 The King James translators couldn't improve upon his work. When 54 scholars were commissioned in 1611 to create the King James Bible, they were tasked with producing a brand new translation... but when they sat down to the work, they found they didn't need to reinvent the wheel. Tyndale’s cadence, vocabulary, and grasp of the original languages were so masterful that the committee found they simply could not improve upon his phrasing. They adopted his work as the backbone of their own. Modern computer analysis confirms that roughly 84% of the King James New Testament, and 76% of the Old Testament books Tyndale translated, are essentially Tyndale’s exact words. When you read the King James Bible, you are hearing the voice of William Tyndale. 🔥 He counted the Word worth dying for. Tyndale was betrayed, arrested, and imprisoned in a cold castle for over a year. On October 6, 1536, he was strangled and burned at the stake. His final recorded prayer was not for his own life, but for his enemies: “Lord, open the King of England’s eyes.” Within just a few years, English Bibles were being placed in churches throughout the realm. Tyndale died, but his work lived, and the Word of God went forth. By the providence of God, the work of one faithful man helped to put the Scriptures into the hands of millions upon millions of people for centuries.

Instead of adding pink ribbons to their products this month maybe companies should just remove the cancer causing ingredients.

I realized that there were little bits of me that were feminist, though I would have adamantly said I wasn’t. I’ve been doing the hard work to kill those things. Why? Feminism is poison to being godly. If you are called a feminist do some self reflection and see if it’s true.

We simply choose neither and want to disciple our kids ourselves.

Thousands are publicly defending and justifying Lindsay Clancy strangling her 3 children to death. Legislation is being introduced to decriminalise abortion at any stage, right up till birth. They are trying to normalise MURDER. Do you hear me? THEY ARE SYSTEMATICALLY CONDITIONING YOU TO ACCEPT MURDER. And they are not even trying to hide this anymore. You should be very, very alarmed.

Fred Kummerow told America in 1957 that the fat in margarine was turning up in the arteries of the dead. The government acted on it in 2015. He was 100. He was a biochemist at the University of Illinois, and what he had done was simple and slightly grim. He got hold of tissue from people who had died of heart disease and looked at what their arteries were made of. They were full of trans fats, a kind of fat that barely exists in nature and came, in 1957, from one place: the hydrogenated vegetable shortening and margarine the country had just been told to eat in place of butter. He published it in Science. He was 43. What followed was a career spent being ignored by experts. The oil industry had friends on every committee. His funding grew thin. In 1968 he talked a panel of the American Heart Association into warning about trans fats, and the warning was pulped and reprinted without it after the shortening makers saw a draft. Kummerow kept working. He kept his laboratory into his nineties. And he kept eating, quite deliberately and in front of journalists, the diet he had been told would kill him. Eggs cooked in butter. Whole milk. Red meat. He had looked inside the arteries himself and he had not found breakfast in there. In 2009, aged 94, he filed a formal petition asking the Food and Drug Administration to ban artificial trans fats. The law gave the agency 180 days to answer. Four years later it had not, so in 2013, at 98, he sued the United States government. Three months after that the FDA announced it agreed with him. The ban was confirmed in 2015. The gap between his paper and the decision was 58 years, which is longer than most of the people who ate the margarine got. He died in 2017, at 102. And he spent those last years on a second warning, which has been received exactly as the first one was. The problem, he said, was never the cholesterol in the egg. It is the vegetable oil in the fryer, heated and reheated until it oxidises, and then eaten. On the record so far, that one is due to be acted upon in about 2070.
