@DonutsWithData They can get better up until the human frontier potentially, though I do think we will need another fundamental shift and new approach to get there. But beyond the human frontier, they will need to interact with the world to test if their code is actually better.

@GoldbergModel It's more that the issue is that there are no truly clean boundaries to real systems. Sure, you can rewrite an app. But how about the OS? How about the internet? How about all software on the planet? Eventually you hit a hard limit for what can be rewritten in a single pass.
