Gutted. Thaer al-Rahal was one of 750 migrants who boarded a trawler & ended up in one of the Mediterranean's deadliest shipwrecks. He needed to get to Europe to earn money to save his 4 yr old Khalid, who has leukemia & needs a bone marrow transplant. Thaer did not survive. 💔

Vital discussion of heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) at #ISTH2022. Women continue to believe their family history of HMB is acceptable. We need quicker consideration of an inherited bleeding disorder in such families. These talks are invaluable

Folic acid doesn’t prevent 100% of cases, it was warned as a risk if not taken & a lack does not cause this type of spina bifida. Any doctor that has had a patient refuse investigation/treatment despite warning of risk (even 20 years ago), could be this dr. #IAmPhilipMitchell

Argh! Yet another pt’s VTE initially dismissed because no “textbook”symptoms & signs. Please! VTE can be difficult to recognise - most DVT have no signs - no swelling & change in colour Usual symptom is just muscle pain - consider PE in those with unexplained chest symptoms

Policies on how headscarf is worn in theatre should be made using evidence based medicine+input from the Inclusion&Diversity officer. Accosting members of staff in public space about their religious clothing (coffee room/corridor) =inappropriate /intimidation #MedTwitter #hijab
