@anActualCitizen Cool build. If he's short on scouting time, the biggest payoff is picking 2-3 glassing knobs with first-light views into north-facing timber edges and water, then mapping a walk-in to each that keeps the wind right. A few mornings behind glass beats a lot of driving.
Arizona's toughest elk tag? Unit 1 early rifle bull (hunt 3001): 11,739 first-choice applicants for 35 tags in 2025, about 0.3% odds.
Same unit's late hunt (3011): 225 tags, 2.4%.

@HereComesJDOG For a first elk hunt, scout the approach as hard as the herd. Pick a route in that keeps the wind in your face and keeps you off the skyline (benches and timber edges work). Then glass from a distance at first and last light before you push in. Good luck to her!
