It is not necessary to be a reactionary to dissent from the conventional wisdom that a Democratic wave will sweep the midterms. In the fury and venom of Trump-hate, which has been, along with truly absurd Islamo-Marxist nostrums, the only discernible offering of the Democratic Party for the last two years, strategists may imagine that descent into political total war is an attractive option to the American electorate. It isn’t. Polling is unreliable and left-leaning; Trump’s low approval rating is likely underestimated and remains ~15 points above the approval rating of the Congressional Democrats. Republicans have a large financial advantage which will presumably be applied as the election proceeds, to tout the remarkable record of achievement of the Trump administration. Trump accounts, lower crime, massive reductions in illegal immigration and deportations, lower prescription prices, high economic growth, deregulation, escape from the climate-change obsession, and the assault on wokeness, DEI, and the intellectual corruption of universities and unionized schools, which more accurately resemble daycare centers where young people are taught to hate America. The more the country sees the field of Islamo-Marxist lunatics candidates who have been herded in from the fringe and now comprise the back-bone of the Democratic mainstream, the more appealing Trump becomes. After ten years the country is somewhat tiring of Trump, but he does pierce the pomposity of the political class. The question Americans will have to ask is whether temporarily elevated gasoline prices are an acceptable cost to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of the Iranian terrorist theocracy. While Democrats continue to attempt to paint Iran as another Vietnam, Trump has rendered the Iranian currency worthless, driven inflation sky-high, forced gasoline rationing, and pushed the regime near bankruptcy. This is the most one-sided war in history between serious combatants—total U.S. combat-related deaths through this entire conflict have been no more than a bad weekend in Chicago. Trump’s record of achievement is eminently defensible and should weigh more heavily than the vagaries of his personality.

Long standing main Sunni mosque. 500 + at Friday prayer, members from 30 + nationalities. - Muslim Community Center of Tucson, 5100 N Kevy Place, northwest side. An imam told Arizona Sonoran News in 2025 that Fridays draw 350 to 400, and tied the increase to refugee programs and the University of Arizona. - Imam Abu Hanifa Islamic Center, 4727 E 5th St. Formed under Imam Watheq Alobaidi. Refugee services. - Al-Faruuq Center of Tucson, 1080 N Swan Rd. Islamic and Arabic instruction, including for refugees. - Husainiya Center of Tucson, 639 N Swan Rd. Shia center. Permanent building opened in 2019 after years of meeting in houses. - Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, around 250 W Speedway. A separate movement, not mainstream Sunni or Shia. - ICS Masjid, 5010 E Bellevue. Quran-only “Submitters” congregation tied to Rashad Khalifa. Three congregations on the books in 2020. Seven centers on the map now, in the second largest city in the state of Arizona, fed by University of Arizona students and refugee resettlements from Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. This is no longer the Tucson many of us grew to love, and it is not “just normal growth” either. Are you paying attention?

When I was a Delta pilot, I used to layover in Minneapolis a lot. I visited the Mall of America a few years ago. I’d heard about it and had lots of time to kill. Was the urgency around the 2024 election just hype for you? Or did you actually realize this country was essentially facing a deadly form of cancer? Europe is facing it. And what are they doing? They’re just managing the decline and nursing their nations down until they're dead. But Donald Trump refused to let America die. He chose chemotherapy. Chemo is a brutal race to see what dies first: the cancer or the patient. That’s why it hurts so much at the grocery store and at the gas station right now.
