🔧 Repairs left for months – or years 🌧️ Damp, leaks, mould, infestations 🔥 Fire safety issues ignored after inspections 🏠 Families crammed in flats with no hope of moving 💸 Service charges for repairs that never happened This isn’t isolated. It’s systemic failure.

This isn’t minor. It’s the government saying: “You are failing in your basic responsibilities to local people.” But residents have been saying that all along. So have councillors, campaigners, and frontline workers.

Instead of fixing it, the council let the problems continue – and in some cases, get worse. Now, just weeks ago, they were hit again – this time with a Best Value Notice from central government. A warning about poor leadership, governance, and value for money.

In 2023, the Regulator of Social Housing issued Dudley Council a Regulatory Notice. Why? Because it breached the Home Standard – the legal baseline for safe, decent housing. That means homes that were unsafe, unfit, and in some cases, downright dangerous.

Recently Dudley council voted to reduce the Budget for Dementia services by a staggering £500k. Following information distributed by the Interim Director of Adult social care it appears that there are due to be dramatic changes to the service #savethedementiagateway

Had a productive site walk today around the Brierley Hill flats with officers from Dudley Council, where we discussed key fire safety measures and compliance. It’s great to see positive steps being taken to improve the safety of residents #localcouncillor #BrierleyHill
