@HalotiMatata @zacodil @spectatorindex Meanwhile, Angela Merkel still has not admitted, and probably never will, that it was a serious mistake for Germany.

JUST IN: The man who stopped the school shooting in Bend, Oregon, has been identified as 36-year-old Kalub Giamanco. Giamanco, a carpenter, was reportedly driving home for lunch when he heard gunshots. After hearing the gunshots, Giamanco, who has a concealed carry permit, followed the suspect into the school. He then shot and killed 16-year-old John J Griffin moments after the teen opened fire into a special education classroom. Giamanco, who has two children of his own who attend the school, is family friends with one of the victims, a 7-year-old who uses a wheelchair and was shot in the face. The 7-year-old survived and is in the hospital. Three children at Silver Rail Elementary School were killed. Their ages are 5, 8, and 11. According to Giamanco's brother, Giamanco doesn't feel like a hero because he feels guilty for not being able to save more children. You are a hero, Kalub.

Turns out the future does have flying cars

@IbrahimFish25 @anime_ The Quintessential Quintuplets

The World Cup is at our shores, and all these people are doing us a great service. They are reminding Americans that this place is kind of awesome.

@NightyTwidda @Camsiyonna1 A ship of the line only had enough gun crews to fire one broadside at a time, so the crews could have fired a full broadside at one ship or the other, or split gunfire, but that needed quick decision making and he froze. That’s why the other officers are panicking too.

He could only fire one broadside at a time. An 18th century ship of the line only had enough gun crews to fire one broadside at a time, and that’s why even the crew were panicking when the Pearl and the Flying Dutchman were lining up to broadside them from both sides simultaneously. It would have taken quick decision making to delegate the gun crews, and he froze in the moment. Also the Flying Dutchman is magical, so he might have decided it was a lost cause.

This is the ultimate midwit healthcare take. No, 32 countries have not “figured out” universal healthcare. The UK has “free” healthcare, and roughly 1 in 3 cancer patients in England still fail to start treatment within 62 days of urgent referral. Canada has “free” healthcare, and the median wait for neurosurgical treatment is around a year. Australia has “free” healthcare, and over half the country still buys private insurance despite paying for a public universal system with their taxes. Switzerland has universal coverage, because residents are required to buy private insurance. There is no government system where benevolent bureaucrats tuck you in at night with a warm blanket and an MRI appointment. The actual lesson from other wealthy countries is not “they figured it out.” America’s system has huge problems. Our prices are insane, insurance markets are distorted, and hospital systems are cartelized. Our regulations make care more expensive than it needs to be. Yet we still guarantee access to even the 8% who don’t have coverage. We give easy routes to qualify for medicaid for those with disabilities. Pretending the rest of the world solved healthcare because they slapped the word “universal” on a rationing scheme is not analysis. It is bumper sticker policy for people who think access means having a card in your wallet while you wait a year to see the doctor you need.

Free Universal Healthcare is so complicated and expensive that only 32 of the 33 wealthiest countries in the world have figured it out.

The Late Night show hosts were so giddy and celebratory after Trump was banned from social media. They absolutely LOVE censorship until someone accusing one of them of crossing the line. Then they become supporters of free speech.

Their only principle on the left is that their side deserves power. They lost control of the court and suddenly we needed to expand the court. They lost the electoral college so we needed to get rid of it. They struggled to pass bills and then all flipped on the filibuster.

@kangminlee they’re calling him the corniest man alive. the final boss of performative male feminist. the human brian griffin.

I’m officially convinced. It was a hoax. The Trump Administration recruited a leftist Kamala Harris voting Trump hater to participate in a staged assassination that would include the shooter getting shot at and then locked in federal prison for the rest of his life. The Kamala Harris voter agreed to this plan, that works against his political and personal interests, because he’s just like a really generous guy. Meanwhile the Trump Administration, despite dastardly planning multiple assassination hoaxes, decided to keep their patsy alive and a permanent liability to them, rather than just killing him like they could have easily done. They did this because they also are really strangely generous in a very odd and specific way. So in summary we have a plot where all parties involved are working against their own interests with no real discernible benefit to any of them. There is no evidence of this plan and it doesn’t even make any intuitive sense and the motives for everyone are unclear if not insane, but still I believe it because I’m a very smart person.

Reminder!

You can tell this Redditor has never actually heard the entire speech, because if Biden actually recited it in its entirety, without context, he would have come across as certifiably insane. Once he started talking about France, His Majesty’s Government, and the will of parliament, everyone would have checked out, long before he ever got to the famous “we shall fight…” part of the speech. We would have been talking about urgently invoking the 25th Amendment and not whether he should voluntarily drop out of the race.

@CinnaMoonFang @Zevelyon @powdury That would be nice, but if you continue to read his further replies, he doubles down on it, insisting that everyone is coping because she’s taken 🙄

@DylanGr73881175 @Yuukikoforlife @RaNgErS_REP_ @Lychibe If the journalist reports on it without corroborating the story first then yes, it would be biased. That’s exactly what happened with the infamous Rolling Stone’s article on the UVA gang rape (which never actually happened), which resulted in a retraction and multiple lawsuits.

@SuchAGoodBoyIAm @kitsunemizuki @darlingstrawbie Yeah, Rima covered the google doc on her stream the day it dropped, and she immediately called out the inaccurate “predator” label, and the contradictions in the recorded VC, so the fact that Mujin was so uncritical and careless in his coverage of it is very revealing.
