Realised last night when I got sucked into a fantasy light novel last night in bed: Maybe I struggle with non-fiction reading because it feels like work and I'm trying too hard to make it feel more like leisure reading? Instead I should treat it more like a "personal work" task.

I initially misunderstood stir-fry sauce instructions: I thought one is supposed to stir fry for a bit longer after pouring the sauce in, but it'd significantly change the taste to something I no longer wanted. For some reason I thought stir fry sauces weren't safe to eat as is.

Random parallel I just realised: Similar to how languages have different dialects/regional variants because they develop in different areas independently, the same can be said of applied statistics in various disciplines: biostats, econometrics, sabermetrics, etc. 🤔

It'll never stop being amusing to me in that if I have to think about and plan the equivalent of a cold outreach email I'll get anxious about it, but occasionally I'll have a bout of whimsy where I bash something out in 15-30 minutes and it results in something meaningful 🙃

Just watched "Thursday Murder Club" (movie) on Netflix, it's solid, charming and solidly written. A good watch for a good chuckle. My only wish is that it had a bit more whimsy. Everything feels a little too carefully crafted and deliberate.

I've discovered crotchet wind spinners and I'm wondering how to put a mathematical spin on them, hmm. It seems like the twist/twirling comes naturally from increasing stitches (Chain, SC, DC in each SC, Two DC in each DC, SC border), so extend with Fibonacci maybe? 🤔

Hollow Knight: Just beat the Soul Tyrant today, beat Failed Champion yesterday. Both took 2 sessions over 2 days. Can't remember the last time a video game has made me feel motivated enough to actually commit to figuring out boss mechanics and just "git gud" at defeating them 😊
