I think the CWRA is a step in the right direction to model for us that PBA approach around analytical/evaluative thinking skills #cwrachat
we struggle with designing performance-based assessments that have some resemblance to transfer beyond the classroom #cwrachat
Gathering regularly those of use using the CWRA to learn from each other--prevent mistakes, steal good ideas, see ways to improve use
Get faculty--or at least key faculty-- to carefully look at the assessment; like Nathan said, is it worth teaching to? #cwrachat
Where does this performance-based assessment focused on analytical & evaluative skills meaningfully fit into your curriculum? #CWRACHAT
We do all 9th graders and a stratified random sample of seniors; thinking of switching to later junior year for older students
With the CWRA+ we are now discussing in our Chairs group how we want to use the expanded information and individual student info #cwrachat
that's very cool--I did not know that about faculty able to take the test
We do the exhortation/explanation when giving actual test--9th grade within 1st month on campus
If doing freshman/senior comparisons need to motivate seniors #cwrachat
Need to institutionally build in time/people to analyze data & go “so what?” #cwrachat
Need to plan well ahead when test is administered, especially for juniors/seniors. Need to systematize HOW test is administered #cwrachat
It has given more focus especially in 9/10 curriculum to what we are doing with argument analysis/evaluation--still much to do #cwrachat
Re leverage--finding out our value added 9t12 was not as much as we thought & seeing how we compared externally motivating
Also liked the possibility of being normed against other schools/colleges for comparison--that was important if compete w AP/SAT2 #CWRACHAT
Had just made effective argument analysis & evaluation an important overarching school learning outcome—CLA/CWRA fit bill #cwrachat
