The rebound was borrowed time. He spent it losing to Washington.

Newt Gingrich claims a major sticking point was Chinese goods being trans-shipped through Canada into the United States allowing China to effectively use Canada as a backdoor into the U.S. market. If true, this changes the entire story. Canadians were told this was about sovereignty and standing up to Trump. But was Washington actually demanding Canada crack down on Chinese trans-shipment and did Canada refuse? The U.S. side has released far more detail about what happened in these negotiations. Canada still hasn’t. RELEASE THE DEAL.

In 2021, Mark Carney said he wanted to ban gas cars by 2030. He now admits he was wrong—just like he was wrong on carbon taxes, oil and gas, money printing, and more. But instead of just eliminating the EV mandate, he is bringing it in through the backdoor with tailpipe rules only EVs can achieve. Another illusion. Carney should just admit he got it wrong and scrap the entire mandate. Put Canadians in the driver seat.
