@thealphabetzero +1 on RollerCoaster Tycoon. For a $5 CD-ROM I got a lot of years of playtime out of that game.

a good example of this would be something like iTunes 7 vs modern Spotify. key differences being denser text, flatter interactivity (buttons instead of drop-down menus), and customizable table views

we’re in a dark era of UI design where everything is optimized for small touchscreens even if you‘re on a large monitor with a mouse. curious when that’ll start to shift weight back towards more productivity focused design.

@simonbs I love Homebrew but it's always been so annoying when you just need to install something and get back to work but it goes, "Hang on, I gotta do this one thing first..." and takes 5-10 minutes

@hii_mohit @nextjs @supabase pro-tip: don't expose your database to the end user. very bad idea. if someone wanted to they could wipe the entire table right now.

@djinnirate The kinds of rockets we flew in the 1940s, which fly to other countries and blow stuff up, we're still really good at those. Today's rockets are much more capable, efficient, and sustainable than even the ones that got us to the moon. Much stricter criteria now.

@djinnirate If you look at the SLS launch from a few months ago, it went off without a hitch. It comes down to design philosophy. Do you spend a lot of time on paper trying to figure everything out or do you build the bare minimum needed to fly and then see what goes wrong in real time?
