I have maybe never felt more fortunate in my life. I’m so grateful that I got to become a mother at 41. I’m grateful that my own mother and I are in a place right now where we can happily FaceTime on Mother’s Day. I’m grateful for health, shelter, food.
I’m sending all my love to those of you who are having a horrible day today. I’ve had shitty mother’s days too, and I know it can be so triggering to see everyone’s picture perfect I ❤️ mom posts when you’re struggling-
Whether dealing with a toxic relationship with your own mum; coping with pregnancy loss/fertility issues; feeling overwhelmed by motherhood itself-
Or maybe you’re a child free woman scrolling through the endless posts wondering if you’ll ever see women be adored and admired this much for any achievement other than birthing or rearing children
Anyway. Whether you had the worst day today or the best day. I love you. It’s all really really hard, and you’re doing an amazing job. ❤️
@melanielynskey You're an exceptional human being. Thank you for tweeting. I too am a mother and I feel its the best thing that I've ever done. I also relate to being at a place to FaceTime your mother today -- I am not at that place, but it encourages me to hear that it does get better!
@melanielynskey Much love to you from a happy child free woman. 😘
@melanielynskey So lovely, Melanie. Thank you. Happy Mother’s Day. 💐❤️
@melanielynskey You know that thing going around about “Name a woman you admire who isn’t related or a love interest”? Mine is a wonderful person who runs an NGO in Greece advocating for asylum seekers. She gave up a lush life to do it. She now has a price on her head but still persists.
