this, so much. it's a guide, not a shackle. as the dude himself said: "be a lamp unto thyself." sometimes you've got to know what's working for you and what isn't. it's all only ever supposed to lead you back to yourself--and if it's not doing that for you, find another way.

morality really is just about how to live & work alongside uniquely different others without killing each other. kind of wild how we so often try to make it bigger than that, or nail it down in abstracts & absolutes that uncooperative players can still simply ignore anyway.

a lot of them carried right through in the science, too, in some somewhat invisible ways. it's why--mmv--but for me, i never so much mind *what* people believe, so much as *how* they believe it. it's really any attitudes of control & judgement that create most of our problems.
