Wishing a very happy birthday to one of the most treasured artists of all time, the great Milton Nascimento. Parabéns mestre! 🎂
i've been going through a lot of blue note records i only skimmed in my youth--it's going to be a fun project :)
a fantastic introduction to keyboardist Hank Jones--his performance and Miles' arrangement do so much for these standards
It’s really cool to take my girlfriend to a new music concert consisting of one very quiet and sparse 90 minute piece and she comes away from the experience loving Morton Feldman. Art is so wicked awesome
@404raded afraid to call him a man as well
@JungeToerless @bucephalus424 her role in the film is specifically what made it for me; both in the Holmes narrative and the documentary metacommentary i'm biased though, i thought it was stunning
@peppercutsgrass they have a similar vowel inventory i'm not surprised
Coffee shops of mid-century Los Angeles.
1/5 Continuous diffusion may be better at discrete reasoning than standard sampling suggests. We took SRM's MNIST-Sudoku Hard checkpoint (arXiv 2502.21075) and changed ONLY the sampler: ❗ 0.8% → 65.7% valid boards solved, without retraining. Why does standard sampling fail?🧵
I have been wanting to start reading the novels of Murakami Ryū for some time now and i figure i should really get on it now
was ultimately dissapointed by Club Kid's trailer however...it's my own axe to grind, but too much queer representation with a budget proper represents affluent, urban, well-socialized ones specifically identity guarantees you nothing...
very excited was also made aware of a klara and the sun movie…
...yet this, in practice, appears as alien, even provocative when realized. The strongest part is anything past Seyfried's entrance--the way that the reenactment and the actor are both part of the documentary is really something special
it legitimately was as good as it's touted--it's more about Fielder than anyone else and you can see it in the framing; it's a commentary on documentaries: initially Nathan's the supposed neutral party that is upheld as the ideal for journalism/documentation...
@ragandboneshop i was aware, just not to such the extent!
a common leftist larp is to say "gods" or "goddess" instead of "god" in expressions. this subverts the gender & uniqueness of 'god'. my larp is to use 'reason' to subvert the idea that humans aren't free. we can combine these into a perfect larp: 'oh my reasonesses'
this is only now happening to me at 21 and I so wish it came sooner...but it's good that it happened at all
weird thing to me is i had the “normie reaction” to so much art as a teen: “that’s gibberish.” “i could splash paint droplets on a canvas too.” “this is just random ugly noise.” then i just sat with the shit for a while and started to like it, quite quickly!
2026 edition. this year, each one is from a different decade! just kind of worked out that way.
Malawian guitarist Daniel Kachamba plays his composition “Zotsala Kumanda” at a film institute in Göttingen, Germany in 1972 📽️: @african_guitar
Positive thoughts from composer George Crumb (b otd 1929): “Perhaps many of the perplexing problems of the new music could be put into a new light if we were to reintroduce the ancient idea of music being a reflection of nature.” “I am optimistic about the future of music.”
