Some people when confronted with facts that challenge their preconceived (or conditioned) ideas, immediately recoil from the thought that they may be mistaken. That life long held beliefs may be wrong. That reality may be very different. It takes bravery to let go of old beliefs.

In this age of easily exchanged information the ability to asses whether something is true or not, or even to admit to not knowing, is very important. It takes weighing up probabilities, ascertaining multiple-source facts from opinion, and hardest of all, dropping personal bias.
