Since this includes some years that are in sample for a number of the stats, I also looked at the last 3 seasons (19-20 predicting 20-21 to 21-22 predicting 22-23) which is out of sample for EVERY stat.
Did some testing of public all-in-one metrics by replicating past work of @Neil_Paine, @ElGee35 and @taylor_snarr but made some slight alterations. The method: merge the all-in-one metric with minutes in year Y+1, sum it up for the team and check the correlation with team win%.
There have been 154 players to play Division II basketball and make the NBA. Auburn forward Elyjah Freeman could be the next. In my latest Substack piece I explain why. Link in the replies ⤵️

Reed Sheppard started 3 games last season (with all of the Rockets starters sitting except Jalen Green) against OKC, LAL and LAC when all 3 teams were playing their starters and trying to win. In those games, Reed averaged: 20 PPG 5 APG 2 SPG 49% FG (22-45) 52% 3P (13-25)

Last 15 seasons, the HS with most individual seasons of D1 Men's Basketball: 1. IMG 379 2. Montverde & Sunrise 303 (each) 4. Brewster 280 5. Hargrave 262 (Data obviously not 100.0% complete and has 1 school for players who played in multiple etc but still noteworthy)

Fred VanVleet really is like a Fashion Nova Chris Paul. But I mean that in the best way possible. Cp3 is incredible. Players 6'2andless, 189lb and less since '11 wtih +0.4 D Darko&EPM, +0.8 O Darko &EPM.. 24 seasons, Cp3 has 6, Mario Chalmers has 2. VanVleet has 4. So slept on.
