What books should I read to understand French/Parisian urbanism/housing/city planning?
@mnolangray I read Transforming Paris about Haussmann and it’s a pretty poor book but it does answer why Paris is so beautiful: The emperor wanted an imperial capital and was willing to displace the poor, fund construction, and impose a cohesive style. goodreads.com/book/show/1931…
@mnolangray Spiro Kostof's The City Shaped and The City Assembled would cover the city form aspects. Camillo Sitte wrote a lot about Medieval city patterns- The Art of Building Cities.
