If you remove the future discount rate on the Rams' 2nd round pick in 2025, the value lost through trades drops to that of an early 3rd round pick.
The @Panthers made four trades during this year's NFL draft; up to 32, down to 52, up to 46, and down to 72. With all that wheeling and dealing, Dan Morgan traded away the equivalent of a late 1st to mid 2nd round pick in the process. Was it worth it?

To Nick's point Howie Roseman is below average in Surplus Over Expected (SOE). However, the Eagles' GM tends to allocate his premium draft capital on premium positions. Trading down, negotiating early extensions, and structuring contracts are what set Howie apart from the field.

I’m not sure we can argue (rightly) that one of the reasons going for two early is smart is because of the informational advantage gained by the trailing team and then turn around and say that future picks shouldn’t be discounted

@NYG2424 it's a given for player safety. You can't play 18 football games in 19 weeks with one game off. It's a nonstarter, and if the NFL doesn't concede that right away, then they're not serious about an 18-game season or, more importantly, player safety.
