“Mortimer said he only posts “the really flagrant violators … (but) there are a ton of listings that are clearly not principal residences and are on Airbnb 100% of the time.” vancouversun.com/business/real-…
@mortimer_1 Well done sir. That Councillor Zhou responded as if this was completely new information to him, is quite something. If ABC actually does something, then good for him. But he (and city) have years of catching up to do. And the money will talk. We know what usually happens then
@mortimer_1 Easiest job on the planet for these 7 staff to just follow @mortimer_1 on Twitter and enforce bylaws accordingly... But 7 people can't even manage to do that.
@mortimer_1 Imagine there are three or four thousand mad dogs, or howler monkeys, or king cobras, lying in wait on the doorsteps of nice, empty apartments, snarling and spitting at every needy renter who comes by...and the city's first priority is to protect the dogs, and monkeys, and cobras
@mortimer_1 I see the article has triggered your illeism.... 😁
@mortimer_1 Thank you for doing what you do! You should get paid by the city (what do these 7 full time staff members do exactly?!)
@mortimer_1 Glad they picked up the story. I wonder how many there are in other neighbouring municipalities suffering from a lack of affordable housing. @NorthShoreNews
@mortimer_1 Keep it up. It needs to get ramped up, shamed and shut down. There are only so many controls available that are manageable and illegal bnb are the first level of fighting back to get any life and liveability in this dying city.
@mortimer_1 @Norm_Farrell Gross negligence? Gross incompetence? Corruption? Dereliction of duty?
@mortimer_1 I don't think my town has any LTR available right now. over 100 STR listings though when I checked airbnb.
@mortimer_1 Yup this unfortunately is also exacerbated by the NDP changing previously non rental strata buildings to allow rentals, which likely have some short term rentals also
