On this day in 1949, following the conclusion of Israel's War of Independence, the UN General Assembly voted to establish the United Nations Relief and Works Agency — @UNRWA. Over time, by refusing to resettle Palestinian refugees, even in the countries they now inhabited such as Lebanon, the world sent them a message: the war is not over, you can still destroy Israel. Today, 74 years later, Israel has still not been defeated, and Palestinians are paying the price of the lie they were fed. Palestinians are the only population in the world not eligible for services by UNHCR, the UN refugee agency (@Refugees), which has a mandate to resettle refugees. Instead, @UNRWA holds generation after generation of patrilineal descendants trapped in permanent "refugee camps," denied integration in the Arab countries they were born in and denied resettlement elsewhere. Keeping Palestinians in refugee camps does nothing to help them. They are being used as pawns in the unending war to undo Israel's creation. Shockingly though, UNRWA's budget is not funded by Israel's enemies. It is funded by Western governments. Here are the largest donors in 2022: 🇺🇸 $344M 🇩🇪 $202M 🇪🇺 $114M 🇳🇴 $34M 🇯🇵 $30M 🇫🇷 $29M Let's imagine for a moment that UNRWA teachers weren't teaching students to support terror and hate Jews. Let's imagine that UNRWA schools weren't being used to store rockets. Let's imagine that UNRWA teachers weren't holding hostages. Even in that world, it would be a moral imperative for donor countries to stop funding the system of delusion that UNRWA's founding has created for Palestinians, whereby they live for generations on Israel's doorstep, waiting for its destruction. Donor countries must find alternative organizations through which to deliver humanitarian aid to Gazans. They must also create a system that aids voluntary resettlement for those Palestinians who decide to finally accept the truth: The war has ended, Israel is there to stay. And it is time for UNRWA to go.

@QueenMab87 Does that interpretation represent the ideology of Hamas? Since they have been quite open about it. If it does not, perhaps use a different slogan? Symbols have meanings, that's the whole point of using one.

Despite U.S. rep @RepStefanik giving them multiple opportunities to clarify and be unequivocal, they did not agree. They stated all that calling for the murder of Jews is a violation of the ethical code only under certain conditions that were not explicitly detailed. Anti-Semitic violence has spread across American universities. The leading higher education institutions that drive global innovation are in practice nothing more than nests of terror and hatred. The tragedy of the Palestinian people is that they have been made to serve as the receptacle of the world's failed ideologies from Nazism to Soviet Communism, from Jihadi and Iranian Islamism to Western Left-wing extremism. These ideologies were all united by the need to politically organize against the Jews as the highly effective means of diverting attention from their abject failures to serve their societies.

Ok. This is the smoking gun. @AP @Reuters and @CNN employed a freelance who is terrorist with a grenade. Kidnapped US citizens and murdered thousands.

I’m not apologizing for my correct assertion that parroting the propaganda of a literal terrorist organization dedicated, in its own charter, to the eradication of Jews is antisemitic. But I would like to parse these claims as thoughtfully as I can, because the situation is complex, and emotionally fraught, and I do think it is important to approach this all as soberly as possible. Nobody knows the exact number of causalities — not me, not Paul, and not the experts he just cited, dishonestly implying their current figures have been proven out (the link supports no such claim). In any case, while I’m generally not a fan of blindly trusting the experts, let’s assume the raw numbers here presented are correct. The shocking figures of a side-by-side dead baby count, itself a grisly emotional tactic designed to frighten you from reason, intentionally omits every single piece of crucial context to service Paul’s anti-Israel point: a) Israelis were just the victim of a terrorist attack where more Jews were murdered than any day since the holocaust, b) the terrorist organization responsible for the attack uses Palestinian children as human shields, c) they also use teenage “soldiers” to fight, and d) civilians fleeing Gaza at the behest of Israel, many of them children, are presently being murdered by Hamas. All of these deaths are included in the figures Paul shared. The only possible intention of posting these numbers without this crucial context is to dishonestly frame the Israeli people as bloodthirsty murderers of the very sort we all just watched, in real time, march into the homes of sleeping families and slaughter them like animals. Where is Paul’s outrage towards Hamas, or anyone calling for the extermination of Jews? Again, Hamas wrote this explicitly genocidal intent into their charter. I don’t think anyone should be forced to speak, as Paul has implied. But of course Paul *is* speaking. He just wasn’t speaking on October 7th. While I do believe Paul’s post is antisemitic, I don’t believe Paul is an antisemite. I don’t know him. Our elite institutions are, at this point quite obviously, biased against the existence of Israel, and many people unfortunately receive such propaganda passively. Earlier today Paul implored his followers to “trust the experts.” I’m Jewish. Trust of this kind is a luxury history has long since proven out my family can’t afford. Nonetheless, I do wish him well.
