What is revealing about this is not how red England is but how yellow Scotland would be. It struck me during the election in Scotland how the young don’t even factor Labour in. Big implications for Labour’s long term national recovery and the union too (the old saved it in 2014).

@Channel4News I bet that Cameron would not mention productivity in his speech, and no journalist would even bother to mention it. He didn't, and they didn't. Any decent economist would have told you the productivity slowdown was more important than the deficit, but the media ignored them. /end

In otherwise spot on post, Chris misleads on 'paying for itself' in terms of debt interest. If the 25 billion of investment at 1% real interest rates yields a 4% return in terms of higher GDP, by my calculations higher taxes cover the debt interest costs. Demand Xers are a bonus.
