@GuI_Dukat I like the list, very focused on beating Landfall (I never thought the matchup was bad tbh) I would be a little worried about having too many Clerics in G1 matchups where you need to block but other than that looks solid. Good luck in the AC!

The fact that Richard Garfield came up with it for the first TCG ever, with no reference points, is one of the greatest feats of game design of all time. If there is a flaw to it, it's that it works too well as a lightning rod for criticism, making too many MTG discussion shallow
Magic system is one of the greatest features of the game. I recommend listening/reading the transcript of this episode of Rosewater's ( MTG head Designer) podcast where he talks about it in depth dtwtranscripts.blogspot.com/2013/07/3813-e… Lands solve so many design issues under the hood
There's no way that people ACTUALLY thing the salvageable thing about Magic is the resource system, right? The resource system in Magic is the TEXTBOOK, SQUARE ONE thing that other games look at and go "How can we improve upon this to remove it from our game?" There are PLENTY

@RandomOctopus21 @Euro_JV With Lifegain all I want to play against is control. Demon is worse for sure, but it is fine to have losing matchups, and their deck is clunky and just dies sometimes
@GabrieleP44575 @fireshoes I don't love that it's neither a payoff nor an enabler, and I found that I had to suicide it in combat too many times to get any Lifegain triggers. It could be a reasonable SB card, as I have not liked Duress and want a replacement
Trophy #10, Orzhov Lifegain Beat UW Control, mirror, Jund Sac, Boros Dragons and GB Midrange That makes it 15-0 in my last 3 leagues with the deck I was not happy with the SB Duress, so I am testing other stuff in those slots, will update the guide with conclusions @fireshoes

@xtracombatphase Head Designer for a set is very much hands on, they are involved in designing every single card and the design document that is passed on to Set/Play design. As for other designers, for UB sets they look to pick people who are already a fan of the material (like Gavin for FF)
@xtracombatphase Forsythe himself is leading design on Darkhold, his first set lead since Core 2021 and his first non-core set lead since Alara Reborn! This is obviously something he cares deeply about
@xtracombatphase The idea that the designers don't care about Marvel is just wrong. MaRo (MSH design lead) is a Marvel guy through and through. When Forsythe originally pitched UB, he called dibs on Marvel, and made cards to pitch to Disney to get the rights (Squirrel Girl card made it to print)
