MIT Press just published my paper on "Generative AI and Creative Learning: Concerns, Opportunities, and Choices". My ideas are still evolving: comments and suggestions welcome! mit-genai.pubpub.org/pub/gj6eod3e/r…
Bravo for such an important set of reflections, @mres . The “Trojan horse” for AI+education seems to be efficiency. How can we also drive creativity, collaboration, agency, and changes toward interactive pedagogy & invisible formative assessments, aligned with our future societal Al needs, connected to learning science principles?
@mres We’re building something that *does not* have kids working on “close-ended” problems. It’s a tool that extends their creativity, and creates opportunities for on-demand learning. The kids are building incredible things, and learning math/coding along the way.
I learned what Beavis would look like if his mom laid with $pork as they did in Soddom and Gamora and how that combination might be the best thing that has happens for mankind since the cotton gin, I thank the baby Jesus for inventing this and sending it to someone’s head to deliver to me. A truly beautiful creature.
@mres It would be beneficial to create generative AI tools made specifically for young learners. I feel utilizing AI agents to create iterative projects with makers is the way to do this. Agents that help co-create short stories, animations, art and coding would be a start.
