The biggest transportation challenge Cobb faces: * 240k commuters come into Cobb for work * 200k commuters leave Cobb for work * Only 128k live and work in Cobb We gotta reduce how far we travel for daily commutes.
Also, this reinforces how backwards it is that the state only provides an insulting pittance for transit funding. Transportation is a regional issue yet the state only keeps prioritizing the car. This puts way too much funding pressure on local counties and municipalities
@mstigall Instead, the opposite is happening. More sprawling developments are happening further out because we can’t build smaller houses.
@mstigall One of the 15k who leave Cobb to go to Gwinnett!
@mstigall Is there a similar study/source for southern OTP counties (Clayton, Fayette, coweta, spalding, Henry)?
@mstigall So you want to tell people what to do, good luck with that!
@mstigall Somewhat relatedly, spent some time on Marietta Square this weekend, first time in awhile, and... how ridiculous is it that those train tracks are not used for frequent passenger service, and that the Square is not a highly transit-oriented housing hub?
@mstigall Do they have these graphics for the other metro counties?
@mstigall Since expanding MARTA seems impossible, it’s not gonna be easy.
