being a self-aware person doesn't mean i view myself as a good person. i think a lot of people get that confused. it literally means that i am vigilant of both my light and dark side. i have also made peace with my flaws even though i'm always working through them

One thing I have realised is that you don't need to vent to your friends about everything that you are going through. Sometimes it's ok to just pray about it and move on. Let it be between you and God

At my coworker's baby shower, I skipped the registry entirely, didn't buy a single onesie or toy. Brought her mesh postpartum underwear, the giant overnight pads, a heating pad, a gift card for takeout, and a set of nipple cream she'd never have thought to ask for. Told her straight, everyone else in that room is about to hand her a baby wardrobe. Nobody's thinking about the fact that she's going to be bleeding and sore and running on no sleep in a body that just did something enormous. I remembered exactly what I didn't get after my own delivery, spent the first week improvising with stuff from the pharmacy at 2am because nobody warned me what recovery actually required. She cried opening it, said it was the only gift that made her feel like someone was thinking about her instead of just the baby.

i think if there is one thing you must insist on being in this life, it is sincere. even at your expense. even at your own detriment. you just have to be sincere. there is no other way.

My response to everything is “it’s all good” because even if it isn’t, it will be.

I think the love you receive from someone who knows how to be alone is the most sincere. a solitary soul loves you by choice, not out of need for company.
