I started watching Secret Invasion. And then the intro happened. I immediately thought "wait a minute, is this AI generated?!" Turns out, yep, it is. I immediately binned the show after that.
I was hopeful that maybe --MAYBE-- the imagery had at least been trained on the work of artists who had been paid by Disney. However, going by these quotes from the show's Executive producer/director, I doubt that is the case.
@nellucnhoj Now, now, don't stop watching because they used AI art. They pay their real artists just as little and for longer hours.
@nellucnhoj You COULD make the tenuous argument that a show about insidious shapeshifters stealing the appearance of humans and pretending to be them would be justified in having an intro created by an algorithm stealing art and claiming it as its own... But I doubt they considered that.
@nellucnhoj I'm sure they decided wading into the controversy would pay for itself by causing controversy and they can hand wave it away as trying to "establish a dialogue" or whatever. Seems like relying on derivatives of art assets you don't own is risky though. Maybe it's bad cos..
@nellucnhoj Bloody hell. That is *shameful*.
@nellucnhoj + shit looks low effort af like the time I used to mess with ai out of curiosity
