A turquoise house in Trishuli, Nepal, survived the devastating floods, residents said as they returned to view the damage around it. The unprecedented deluge of ice, rock, mud and debris carved a trail of destruction killing more than 900 people reut.rs/4gJW9Dy
Tibet: On the evening of August 29, Chinese frontline monitoring drones detected a new landslide 2.8 kilometers downstream of the Purepuqiang Zangbu River barrier lake, forming a new barrier body and lake. The Chinese Ministry of Emergency Management convened experts to assess the situation. In addition, officials have identified an impact crater formed during the initial landslide on the Chokya River in Nepal. This crater creates a risk point for overflowing downstream. However, officials assess the current likelihood of the impact crater overflowing as low. Chinese authorities deployed emergency equipment to replace damaged monitoring stations in the area and continue active hydrological monitoring of both sites. Additional rainfall is expected in the region through September 1, which could increase the risk of further landslides and flooding. Road access to the affected area remains severely disrupted. Flights from Lhasa Gonggar Airport continue to operate with direct flights to Kathmandu, as well as to major Chinese cities with direct connections to the United States. Tours into and out of Lhasa going to Mt. Everest and Mt. Kailash are reported to continue without interruption. Travelers should communicate with their tour operator to confirm current itineraries and verify individual flight status directly with their airline. Power and telecommunications service across the affected area remain disrupted. If you are in the affected region and safe, contact your family, hotel, guide, and tour company as soon as possible. This place is quite significant since it shows where the original flood from Lhende Khola:-
1) First went upstream Gyirong Tsangpo due to its momentum & destructive forces. The flood surge altitude of +50meters also gave it significant altitude to force its way upstream.
2) Then reversed under gravity and went down Bhote Koshi into Nepal to join its usual path.
A mudslide that flowed upstream — then came back. This on-site report from CCTV correspondent Xu Zhuoyang was filmed about 1 km from the Gyirong Port, on the China-Nepal border in Xizang. Look at the roadside stakes: they've all fallen toward the direction the mud came from — the

Alok Bohara, professor emeritus of economics, tells Al Jazeera the $4bn to $5bn in pledged aid, nearly a tenth of Nepal's GDP, is significant.
But he says Nepal needs to "rethink," not just rebuild, having adopted political federalism without an equivalent for ecological risk.
The #Trishuli Hydropower Station has been completely devastated by the devastating floods. A three-storey building is now submerged under water.
These visuals show the heartbreaking “before and after” of the site.
Please pray for #Nepal and everyone affected by this catastrophic disaster. @indiatvnews
I’ve been receiving many messages from families and friends of Indian Missing Persons in Nepal, unable to find their loved ones after flash floods.
Requesting Honourable Ministers @shisir, @SwarnimWagle and Sudan Gurung to take note, so that Nepal forces are able to trace them.
Rescuers are digging through thick mud and debris in Nepal as fears of more flooding keep the devastated Himalayan region on high alert.
Nearly 3,000 people remain missing across Nepal and Tibet, including about 90 Americans, after catastrophic flash floods killed 669 people in Nepal and seven in Tibet. Search efforts were briefly suspended by heavy rain and fog, while officials monitor upstream lakes and warn of growing risks from waterborne disease.
Raju Goyal runs a business in #Trishuli Bazaar, #Nepal. Within just two minutes, he witnessed waves rising nearly 200 feet, with debris crashing into his home. Amid extremely difficult conditions, he somehow managed to get his family to safety. But 12-15 people who were sitting at his shop were swept away. He still has no idea where they are or what happened to them.
His home stood beside a building that remained standing in the devastation. Today, Raju has lost his business, his home and is left on the streets, with nothing but unanswered questions. @indiatvnews
“I have lost property worth crores in #Trishuli Bazaar. My sister-in-law and my nephew were swept away and lost their lives. #Nepal Police recovered one body, but it was so badly decomposed that the police told me they had to perform the last rites themselves.
I have nothing left. Even this shirt I am wearing was borrowed from someone.”
These are the heartbreaking words of Ashok Chaurasia, a shopkeeper from #Baliya, #UP, India, who has been running his clothing business in Nepal’s Trishuli Bazaar for the past 20 years. @indiatvnews
