FTR, many women, believe it or not, are the breadwinners in their families, so paternal leave also means we can go back to work earlier and not have to lose the salary that sustains our householdS since US also has the stingiest paid maternity-leave in the industrialized world.
@nhannahjones This concept escape many. Even in households where women aren't the bread winners, but their salary is equal &/or essential paternity leave allow couples an additionalnsafety net where they aren't forgoing income to ensure the safety & well being of their newborn.
@nhannahjones @IAmSophiaNelson I’m happy I live in a society where parents don’t have to chose between caring for infants and losing their jobs. Not to mention health care. Yes I pay more taxes. Yes I’m ok with that. Yes I live in Canada. 🇨🇦 No I am not socialist.
