So weird that the strongest most principled voices for women’s rights come from conservatives now. But I’m for women’s rights, not parties and labels. youtu.be/DZ9Kq10Js-4?si…
@ninapaley I've recently come to realize that the most generous people in my life are my conservative friends. 🤔
@ninapaley Conservatives are now more principled than Liberals on women's rights because Conservatives actually know what a woman is. Liberals are confused on the issue.
Conservatives have shifting principles. They used to oppose social security and Obamacare; no longer. They used to oppose the Civil Rights Act and Title IX. No longer. As @michaelmalice says, conservatives are just progressives going the speed limit. Of course Title IX is unconstitutional and immoral and should be abolished. The problem with transgender nonsense is not that it violates another unjust state law, it is that it is unjust in and of itself. Too bad we have to fight insane state and federal law and policy using equally insane and evil and unconstitutional federal law. Live by the sword, die by the sword. People counting on and supporting Title IX have no grounds to whine about other bad state laws. When you hand the state this kind of power, don't be surprised when it bites you in the ass.
I was liberal in my youth and my views have barely changed. The parties shifted around me until I identified more with conservatives. Still I worry the pendulum will swing the other way in backlash to the extreme Leftists and conservatives will be abusive when they regain cultural power.
@ninapaley Same in the UK. The left has an authoritarian streak a mile wide. I never thought I’d be reposting Tory politicians, but here we are. I think publicly adhering to one set or the other lets them take you for granted. We should keep them honest and make them work for our votes.
@ninapaley I'm glad she mentioned how horrible this is for young men.
@ninapaley I am aghast at the silence of the traditional champions of women such as NOW, ACLU, et al. Not just silent, they are actively working towards undermining women. How did this happen? Is there a way back? Our academic institutions have a lot to answer for.
@ninapaley Some people were only championing women for while as a stop on the progressive road. More conservative people have a different view of life and see smashing everything up is not the way to make anything better. Building strong relationships is the way to better things.
