Here's a random discovery that blew my mind Ann Arbor and Paris are essentially the same size. A2 is 29 square miles and Paris is about 32, not counting the two enormous parks just outside the city. If A2 had the same density as Paris there would be 1.8 M people here #a2council
Paris is famously walkable, has a lovely riverfront with lots of scenic parks, and is mostly free of highrises. Not saying we should become Paris, but it's pretty amazing to see how many people you can house with basically just classical 4-5 story buildings and narrow streets.
@no_face Washtenaw County itself has never had more than 400,000 residents, so I don't think density is what's holding Ann Arbor back lol.
@no_face @leedevito The last time I was in Ann Arbor, I as 3 or 4 years old - according to my parents.
@no_face Reading this thread now from delightfully walkable Paris.
