@ID_AA_Carmack The other practical reasons are: lower lunar gravity, shorter tether length, no atmospheric drag, lower human presence (accidents).
@ID_AA_Carmack More practical to use it for the moon. Tethers will probably go in long before a mass driver. Lunar in SITU has a very low cost to orbit. Lunar tether can be done with conventional materials, no breakthroughs required.

@chris_j_paxton I am not sure how widely it is understood of how much a bottleneck this solves, it also seems to generalize to non humanoid robots (general end effectors). If it bears out, seems pretty colossal. Basically program any robotic form factor by showing it a few examples of a task.

@ChrisGPT I do think the labs could grow into larger vals in the coming years. The demand signal is there and the revenue growth is historic - huge pull from the market.
@ChrisGPT If the labs are trying to justify value in terms of RSI or AGI that's not something that can be properly priced in capital markets, it's speculation. Retail might buy it and maybe the euphoria will carry the day until next gen capabilities emerge.
@ChrisGPT The list price of Anthropic at 2T does not seem to have priced in kimi-k3 as a peer model for Fable/Mythos class models and future trajectory. There is clearly going to be pressure on the revenue models of the labs for middle & lower tier automation.
@ChrisGPT I think of AI as a new global commodity market, more valuable than oil but growing rapidly and starting from a smaller size. There is no monopoly either - few centralized players, but strong open source ecosystem. AI will continue to diffuse regardless of who is CEO at US labs
