Ended up seeing the new Sense and Sensibility (2026), and I enjoyed it. The 1995 adaptation is special, but this one has its own indie charm: landscapes, weather, food, and unusual dances convey the heroines’ feelings. My painting metaphor: the 1995 film as academic realism, the 2026 version as impressionism. Also, Herbert Nordrum’s Colonel Brandon? So handsome. An immediate yes. Willoughby needn’t have bothered 😜 Seeing so many young women in the theater reminded me that each generation gets its own encounter with Austen. And that’s a good thing 😊

@FilmUpdates @VerinsOwl It’s a good movie. It’s not quite as good as the 1995 version, but it has its own charm and a sensual atmosphere. I liked it!

@AncPhi @NarniaWeb Oh really? How could I have missed that? :)) And here I thought love and joy weren’t reserved for ultra conservatives.
