Are you a vibe coder building in public? Here are a 5 important tips to keep your code + users protected 👇 1/ don’t share a photo like the one below!! if sharing your screen in videos or live streams, do not show your env variables. Make sure you know the difference b/w client & server-side env variables. Never store sensitive config client-side 🙅♂️ 2/ before deploying a node/web app, always use ‘npm run audit’ and resolve any active vulnerabilities if possible - especially if they’re high or critical severity 🚨 3/ don’t roll your own auth. Use managed auth solutions like Clerk + read their docs carefully to ensure you are implementing auth correctly! Don’t forget to protect public endpoints with auth 🔐 4/ always set up IP + user-based rate limiting, DDoS protection, firewalls, monitoring and analytics. Platforms like Vercel offer monitoring, analytics and a firewall but you should also consider using cloudflare and captchas for added security🕵️♂️ 5/ always write test automation for parts of your codebase where the cost of failure is high (payments, subscription mgmt, usage tracking, etc) 🤖 When writing tests for third party integrations like Stripe, ALWAYS reference official examples and docs. Don’t assume that an AI code editor will write these tests correctly!!
