I get people be amped up over youth games… but how a kid plays 4th thru 6th grade isn’t nearly as important to what they become 10th thru 12th.. You know how many “cold” 4th/5th graders or 4th/5th grade teams I’ve seen who are now in HS struggling to get on the floor. I almost wish parents could bypass that elementary phase lol

Expecting emotional maturity from young adults w/out FIRST demanding it of ourselves as coaches is unrealistic. We can’t expect them to regulate emotions, handle adversity, communicate, accept accountability & respond instead of react, unless we’re modeling the same behavior.

@GrindHouseBB I would not be paying a dime! If they want to play in college they need to have some self motivation/discipline.

Saw a kid for the first time and immediately added her to our recruiting list because she was easily the best teammate and energy giver I saw all weekend. Recruits, your body language, effort, and how you support your teammates matter. Coaches notice.

If I can count to 5 and the ball is still in your hands I’m assuming you just went coast to coast. 🤷‍♀️

We need to have a real discussion about what travel ball is costing the average parent. In cities with sky high hotel costs. Parents hang in there.

OWU: Conceptually Thinking Basketball (Nike EYBL) @MissouriPhenom Ryenn Gordon (2027) — Centralia HS (Centralia, MO) 5’9” Point Guard | Missouri Phenom — Nike EYBL Gordon projects as a multi-dimensional point guard whose value is rooted in EYBL-calibrated production, competitive motor, and guard-level processing that impacts multiple phases of the game simultaneously. The defining signal is not simply a high-scoring performance—it is a verified 23-point, 11-rebound, 6-assist EYBL stat line that reflects creation, facilitation, and possession control within a national-level evaluation environment. At Centralia High School, Gordon operates within a smaller Class 3 context, but the Nike EYBL platform through Missouri Phenom significantly recalibrates the evaluation. Production at that level comes against athletes and guards who project into Division I basketball, making the statistical profile materially more meaningful than isolated small-school scoring volume. @GrindHouseBB I wish we would have waited on traveling and spent the elementary/middle school years staying local and strictly training!

Taking the April Eval period with an experienced grain of salt, but I’m going to encourage these clubs to develop some sort of system for which players can start displaying better decision making. TEAMS develop a common language and some operational standards - and it helps everyone be better. They need the accountability and foundation. Teach them! And players - don’t run away from the coaches who challenge you in this way, please. But - this I’ll stand on: the free-for-all is not benefitting anyone. And “pressing” does not qualify as a system.

27% of the WBB players currently in the transfer portal have already transferred at least once before.

@silversurfer205 @trendyhoopstars But how many of those are transferring again after one year?? So many are going to 3rd or 4th schools. Is that really worth it.

@YolettMcCuin I sure hope my daughter plays for a coach like you!! My only goal is she finds a school she commits to for the full 4 years. Plus I don’t want to have to change my wardrobe every year 🤣

@Amanda_Renae81 @MSHSAAOrg The one thing I can say is at least Principia had to play the #2, 3, 4 and 5th ranked schools to get the championship. However, Centralia and Highland Games should have both been played in Columbia in the Final Four. It’s pretty obvious when you see the score of the last 2 games
