Your phone is useless without a company's permission. A twenty dollar board is not. The firmware is Meshtastic. Open source, running on a cheap LoRa radio. LoRa trades speed for distance. Messages cap out near 237 bytes, so text only. But the signal slips under the noise floor and keeps going. A few kilometers in a city. Tens with clear sky. The records show the ceiling. 331 km ground to ground. One balloon packet landed 832 km away on 25 milliwatts, about forty times less power than your phone uses. Then the mesh takes over. Every node relays, up to seven hops. A battery lasts weeks. Add solar and it stops mattering. Encrypted by default, paired over Bluetooth, zero per month, no account, no number. Hurricanes. Blackouts. Wildfires. Protests where coverage suddenly degrades. Valleys nobody will ever cover, because there is no one there to bill. Governments spend billions on resilient comms. Volunteers shipped a working version for the price of two coffees. The physics was never the obstacle. Nobody could work out how to bill you monthly for it.

Republicans spent years demanding answers about Hunter Biden. MS NOW asked them about 15 companies backed by Trump’s sons receiving $3.2 billion in federal support. Suddenly, they had nothing to say. Apparently, corruption only matters when a Democrat can be blamed.

Kromme wetgeving. #grafiekvandedag

The biggest fear among Trump’s allies is that the EU will begin regulating American tech giants and restrict the free transfer of data to the United States. And that is exactly what the EU should do. There is no reason to hand over this valuable resource to the US for free.

There is ink in my printer, but I can't use it. Because apparently I cancelled my subscription to "HP Instant Ink." Insanely dystopic

@elonmusk cool story - but both of these images are from cameras, and my human eyeballs have literally never looked like the image on the left.

It's not your imagination: Old video games DID look better in the past. Old games relied on old TVs to blur the images together, when viewed on a modern TV things dont look right -

For lack of a better way to put it, consider this as a revised crash course into the current U.S. administration for my fellow Europeans, just so we can more easily tell which bit of the up and coming American Reich each of these abominations is in charge of.🧵

Since this US administration’s agenda of insulting Europe has now reached the topic of food, with the US Secretary of the Treasury claiming he would “rather eat bugs” than Swiss food, I decided to revisit and expand my list of US food so unsafe most of Europe had to ban it.🧵
