Photographers who transitioned to/added videography to their services - What helped you most?
@oliviaalysse Honestly i get so creative with my videos because I play around with that manual focus like its the main character
@oliviaalysse CapCut is a cheat code and is a great platform to learn to edit on!
@oliviaalysse Using my phone in the beginning to learn composition & basic editing skills at shows before bringing a second set up to events
@oliviaalysse Definitely watching the same content & analysing how they edit or transition from clip to clip with audio or effects, and applying that with lots of practice 😊
@oliviaalysse Learning the technical skills like frame rates, 180 degree rule, composition, audio gain, pacing, shot selection, etc. Makes editing 10x more enjoyable

@oliviaalysse I looked at references a lot for how to do things, watched a lot of youtube tutorials and practiced with friends. I also reached out to locals in my area and asked if I could shadow/assist them with grip to see how they did stuff
@oliviaalysse I had been dabbling in video but what pushed me was an artist wanted both so I took the gig.
@oliviaalysse - Stop being afraid of editing - Audio is very important - Be as passionate about videography as you were with photography - You're going to suck at first but that doesn't mean you're going to suck forever
