Let me share something personal. I was one of those seekers who are constantly harsh and critical of themselves and their own spiritual progress. During my first meeting with my Trika Guru, you know what brought me ease and repose? These words: "This is not some hathyoga, that you will sit and force something. You have to allow yourself. Allow Her to flow. All you can do is to be the right vessel (pātra) and gain worthiness (pātratā). Rest is not yours to do. It is not your job. Stop trying hard!" These words changed something deep within. Of course, it took some time for my mind and habits to recalibrate with this truth, but I instantly felt as if half of my burden was lifted off. I realised, if something will happen, it’s the Lord’s wish; if not, it’s the Lord’s wish. It stabilised my devotion and brought a sense of joy and ease in practices. I never found myself alone in my failures after that. It taught me surrender! After a decade, if I am sharing this, in the disguise of scriptural insight of Abhinavagupta from Sri Parātrīśikā-vivaraṇa here, it is for this reason alone—we are not alone in our seeking, never were! It is Devī’s utterance, which instigates us in our longing for Śiva. It might not be profound, but it helps. 🙏🪷
@AghoraVaktra Not to tease you, but there is nothing profound in this article
In the ordinary world, effort alone doesn’t guarantee success. Years of hard work can be lost in an instant. Wealth can vanish, achievements can fade, and even cherished accomplishments can be forgotten. However, spiritual practice operates on a different principle, as if there were a separate folder on a universal hard drive dedicated solely to it. This folder is called Buddhi (the discerning intellect). It’s an immovable inner sense organ that cannot be deleted, erased, formatted, or even copied by anyone else. It stores all the maturity you've attained on the spiritual path, from birth to birth. As Lord Krishna gives a comforting and encouraging assurance in the Bhagavad Gītā: नेहाभिक्रमनाशोऽस्ति प्रत्यवायो न विद्यते । स्वल्पमप्यस्य धर्मस्य त्रायते महतो भयात् ॥ "On this path (Buddhi-yoga), no effort is ever lost, nor does it produce any adverse result. Even a little practice of this dharma protects one from great fear." But how does Buddhi carry the data of our spiritual practices of past births? Just like it carries all other data called Saṁskaras, the subtle impressions (Vasanā) on individual consciousness from the previous birth. This phenomenon unfolds like all other events related to Prarabdha karma in one’s life. Prarabdha is that portion of your accumulated past-life actions (Sanchita Karma) that is actively unfolding in your current life. But first, let’s address a common confusion regarding the cycle of birth and death. If Ātman (the Self) is immovable, eternal, and the supreme truth that doesn’t undergo any change, then who goes through the repeated cycle of birth and death?” Ātmā—the individual being (Jīva)! Technically, it is also known as Puryāṣṭaka. Puryāṣṭaka literally translates to “the city comprising eight,” which represents the transmigratory individual soul, individuality, or the subtle body (sūkṣma-śarīra), which is composed of five subtle tanmātrās, and three inner sense organs: the mind (manas), intellect (buddhi), and ego (ahaṅkāra). The five tanmātrās are responsible for storing subtle impressions of Shabda (sound), Sparsha (touch), Roopa (form/vision), Rasa (taste), and Gandha (smell) as Vāsnā—residual impressions of experiences. These impressions are evaluated, judged, determined, and distinguished between truth and error, right and wrong, permanent and impermanent by Buddhi—the faculty of intelligence, discernment, and decisive knowledge. Whatever spiritual practices one engages in, with the love and longing for the divine, whether it’s worship, japa, meditation, rituals, homam, or self-reflective study of scriptures, the outcome is not always immediately apparent or accompanied by a dramatic event in one’s life. Instead, it unfolds gradually through the purification of the inner sense organs, particularly the mind and ego. As Buddhi witnesses this purification, it also undergoes purification and accumulates subtle impressions of the sadhana on the individual consciousness of Jīva. As Svacchanda Tantram reveals, when these impressions mature, then the “One who has not performed rituals in this lifetime, yet, due to the maturity of impressions from past lives, naturally and effortlessly remembers a specific deity. This remembrance associated with that deity is called bhāva-āṁsha.” Bhāva-āṁsha refers to the portion, part, or fragment (āṁsha) of past practices or the deity’s state of being (bhava) that gets imprinted on an individual’s consciousness due to those practices. Like other strong imprints (vāsanās), bhāva-āṁsha unfolds as a defining spiritual event in an individual’s life, potentially transforming an unassuming person into a deeply spiritual individual. It manifests in various forms, such as longing, devotion, or even leading someone to renounce worldly life in search of something beyond their current existence. This manifests as a sudden and unchangeable remembrance of Ishta Devtā, even amidst confusion and hardships. It’s as if something has been imprinted in your soul. Until your Ishta directs or guides you towards a higher path, He or She will not leave your side. Moreover, in many instances, Ishta may also reveal that they are not merely a deity but an embodiment of the ultimate truth alone, as in the case of Bhagwan Ramakrishna Paramahamsa:— "The Divine Mother revealed to me in the Kāli temple that it was She who had become everything. She showed me that everything was full of Consciousness. The image was Consciousness, the altar was Consciousness, the water-vessels were Consciousness, the door-sill was Consciousness, the marble floor was Consciousness - all was Consciousness." When an individual is driven by bhāva-āṁsha and engages, immerses or puts efforts again in practices like japa, meditation, or yoga, it is referred to as svabhāva-āṁsha. This represents the portion of the ‘innate disposition’ of the deity or principle that the individual has been worshipping or striving towards since past lives. Eventually, Svabhāva-āṁsha unfolds as a higher mystical experience, siddhi, or even dualistic liberation. “Dualistic,” because this longing does not imply self-recognition; rather, it signifies efforts towards attaining something that is already not there in individual consciousness. This phenomenon is not limited to Tantra only: “One who possesses the āṁsha of Brahmā is devoted to the Vedas. Now hear from me the characteristics of one who possesses the āṁsha of Rudra. One possessing the āṁshaof Rudra is devoted to Rudra, virtuous in conduct, and always engaged in the teachings and scriptures of Śiva. One possessing the āṁsha of Viṣṇu is devoted to Viṣṇu, while one possessing the āṁsha of the Moon is pleasant and attractive in appearance. One possessing the āṁsha of a Yakṣa is devoted to all the gods, peaceful, and inclined toward the accumulation of wealth. One possessing the āṁsha of Vāyu (Wind) is known to be restless and fickle and SO ON…..” Both Bhāva-āṁsha and Svabhāva-āṁsha are considered inferior forms of Śaktipāta by Abhinavagupta, as they can only grant dualistic liberation. This dualistic liberation encompasses four types: Sālokya, Sāmīpya, Sārūpya, and Sāyujya. These experiences do not dissolve individuality, even after death, but instead lead to Jīva in higher realms. Consequently, in Trika Śaiva, these dualistic experiences of liberation are regarded as Siddhis (supernatural powers). However, it’s important to note that they also possess the potential for the higher form of Śaktipāta or non-dual liberation. Here is an astonishing statement from the Svacchanda Tantram, regarding this: भैरवाङ्गसमालब्धाः सर्वे देवा वरानने । भैरवास्तु स्मृताः सर्वे सर्वसिद्धिफलप्रदाः ।। "O beautiful-faced Goddess! When all these deities attain the body of Bhairava, then all of them are understood to be forms of Bhairava Himself, capable of granting every siddhi and all desired attainments." Technically, the statement refers to the nishkal mantra of Bhairava, which is devoid of any specific form. However, it also suggests a profound contemplative state of immersion, where the individual identifies with the deity, So'ham—"I AM THAT." Jai Ma Ram
AN OPEN LETTER TO TRADINGVIEW FROM AN ADMIRER I’ve always been a big admirer of the team at @tradingview for what they’ve built and how they’ve transformed the charting experience for traders. I’ve also been quite vocal about the importance of investing in essential tools rather than hesitating over such costs. However, the recently introduced symbol limits per watchlist, even on paid plans, feel like a step backward. I understand the intent to increase ARPU and push upgrades, but reducing the Premium plan limit from 1000 to 500 symbols is quite restrictive, especially considering it’s already at the upper end of what retail traders in India can afford. This change feels unjustified and, ideally, the earlier limits should be restored. If that’s not feasible, then at least increasing the caps would be a fair middle ground, bringing Premium back to 1000 symbols, and raising Essential and Plus tiers to 250 and 500 respectively. Now, one might argue why anyone would need such a large number of symbols in a watchlist and how it actually helps. What most traders, and even the team at TradingView, may not fully understand about India is the concept of circuit filters enforced by our regulators. This is quite unique to Indian markets. Since international platforms don’t provide a way to exclude stocks based on these filters directly in scanners, we are forced to first eliminate such stocks using local tools. To avoid illiquid names, especially those stuck in 2% or 5% circuit filters, we have to create a refined “Total Universe” watchlist first. Only then can we effectively run scans on TradingView. If we skip this step and rely purely on inbuilt scanners, results often get cluttered with circuit-bound stocks, which are practically untradeable and hard to filter out afterward. Currently, National Stock Exchange of India has around 2300 listed stocks. Even after filtering out illiquid names and those under strict circuit limits, we are still left with roughly 900 to 1100 stocks depending on market conditions. This already exceeds even the earlier limits. I had earlier requested increasing these limits, but the recent change has gone in the opposite direction, making it almost impractical to use TradingView’s watchlist-based scanning effectively in Indian markets. I’ve used multiple platforms over the years, free and paid, desktop and web, and haven’t encountered such restrictive limitations elsewhere. This kind of constraint could actually give competing platforms an opportunity to challenge TradingView, at least in the Indian market. On behalf of retail traders and the fintwit community, I would strongly request the TradingView team to restore the earlier limits. If changes are unavoidable, then at least consider increasing the limits as suggested earlier. I’d also urge the fintwit community to support and amplify this, so the importance of this issue is clearly communicated.

On DeepWiki and increasing malleability of software. This starts as partially a post on appreciation to DeepWiki, which I routinely find very useful and I think more people would find useful to know about. I went through a few iterations of use: Their first feature was that it auto-builds wiki pages for github repos (e.g. nanochat here) with quick Q&A: deepwiki.com/karpathy/nanoc… Just swap "github" to "deepwiki" in the URL for any repo and you can instantly Q&A against it. For example, yesterday I was curious about "how does torchao implement fp8 training?". I find that in *many* cases, library docs can be spotty and outdated and bad, but directly asking questions to the code via DeepWiki works very well. The code is the source of truth and LLMs are increasingly able to understand it. But then I realized that in many cases it's even a lot more powerful not being the direct (human) consumer of this information/functionality, but giving your agent access to DeepWiki via MCP. So e.g. yesterday I faced some annoyances with using torchao library for fp8 training and I had the suspicion that the whole thing really shouldn't be that complicated (wait shouldn't this be a Function like Linear except with a few extra casts and 3 calls to torch._scaled_mm?) so I tried: "Use DeepWiki MCP and Github CLI to look at how torchao implements fp8 training. Is it possible to 'rip out' the functionality? Implement nanochat/fp8.py that has identical API but is fully self-contained" Claude went off for 5 minutes and came back with 150 lines of clean code that worked out of the box, with tests proving equivalent results, which allowed me to delete torchao as repo dependency, and for some reason I still don't fully understand (I think it has to do with internals of torch compile) - this simple version runs 3% faster. The agent also found a lot of tiny implementation details that actually do matter, that I may have naively missed otherwise and that would have been very hard for maintainers to keep docs about. Tricks around numerics, dtypes, autocast, meta device, torch compile interactions so I learned a lot from the process too. So this is now the default fp8 training implementation for nanochat github.com/karpathy/nanoc… Anyway TLDR I find this combo of DeepWiki MCP + GitHub CLI is quite powerful to "rip out" any specific functionality from any github repo and target it for the very specific use case that you have in mind, and it actually kind of works now in some cases. Maybe you don't download, configure and take dependency on a giant monolithic library, maybe you point your agent at it and rip out the exact part you need. Maybe this informs how we write software more generally to actively encourage this workflow - e.g. building more "bacterial code", code that is less tangled, more self-contained, more dependency-free, more stateless, much easier to rip out from the repo (x.com/karpathy/statu…) There's obvious downsides and risks to this, but it is fundamentally a new option that was not possible or economical before (it would have cost too much time) but now with agents, it is. Software might become a lot more fluid and malleable. "Libraries are over, LLMs are the new compiler" :). And does your project really need its 100MB of dependencies?
How to build a thriving open source community by writing code like bacteria do 🦠. Bacterial code (genomes) are: - small (each line of code costs energy) - modular (organized into groups of swappable operons) - self-contained (easily "copy paste-able" via horizontal gene
@ganapatyarya True, but how to balance between accepting the circumstances and also doing necessary actions ? Some times mind tricks us into doing bare minimum instead of stretching or giving our full even though it may not bring what we are expecting.

Operation Sindoor vs. Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos Some of the firsts One : Realizing the stalemated status or irrelevance of the UNSC, India didn’t seek to request sympathy from the five of the 1945. Operation Sindoor clearly demonstrated a strong sense of self-confidence and real strategic autonomy and sovereignty. Two: For the first time, India shredded the notion that terrorists are separate from terrorist backers and thus targeted both. The notion that certain powerful rogue officers of Pakistani State authorize terrorist attacks was also shredded. This is a new paradigm. Another type of deniability must be invented. Third: There was a battle going and a war being planned. In the midst of the battle, Pakistan negotiated for a loan from the IMF, which surprisingly approved it. It matters because most likely Pakistan isn’t fit enough to finance a war but has capabilities to engage in battles. A war can't be won with IMF loans anyway. Fourth: The strategic patience and cultural restraint have a limit. That limit was tested on April 22 by the Lashkar Teyba terrorists. Perhaps they wanted what followed. They didn’t benefit from their adventure though. Perhaps they wanted to humiliate India publicly. They seem to be mentally stuck in 2008. Fifth: Size matters. Every inch of Pakistan was under reach. I always thought the Nur Khan airbase was the best defended base of Pakistan. It isn’t. The grarrison town of Rawilpindi as the heart of Pakistan’s military and its best-known airbase was hit. Sixth: Pakistan lost the monopoly over Islamic Fatwa. The Indian ulema presented a fatwa of their own to their own government. Thus, the religious dimension always exploited by Pakistan to earn sympathy from the Muslim Ummah evaporated. Deoband is located in India by the way. Seventh: Keeping secrets in a democratic society is next to impossible, but very little leaked out of India, which shows enormous skills in adhering to principles of operational silence and public unity to assist in safeguarding of secrets. Note: I have seen very little or no visuals from Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos to comment on. Seemingly, it never took off the way it was propagated. The ceasefire saved Pakistan’s skin. Pakistan military leadership has made statements and claims over their own achievements, but the Indian skies remained open, flights weren’t cancelled, and I haven’t seen visuals of missiles landing in Delhi or Amritsar.
Modi hit Pakistan harder than nobody ever did in the last 50 years. In places nobody thought could be hit. Indian losses were minimal Chinese ADS and Turkish drones were proven to be shit while Indian ADS and drones did very well. It is a win for India. SAY IT PROUDLY

Another important point, in my opinion, is that CAGR is perhaps one of the most overrated metrics people focus on. It’s similar to a batsman’s average runs per inning—useful for comparisons but irrelevant to the person currently at the crease. You can’t play solely to improve your average; it’s something that can only be analyzed retrospectively. Beyond a certain point, whether you have ₹20 crore or ₹200 crore, it’s just a number. The most significant lifestyle changes occur within the first ₹20 to ₹40 crore of net worth. A trader's primary goal should be to accumulate this through non-linear growth rather than obsessing over the long-term outcomes of growing wealth at 20% CAGR for 50 years. CAGR emphasizes the idea of "dying rich," whereas the concept of superperformance or non-linear growth focuses on "living rich."
Why is India hard mode? — city infra is poor, traffic is insane — high pollution — govt taxes the 2% who pay legally for little benefit, GST is egregiously high for a developing nation — quotas are too high, general seats are dwindling — overt focus on marks and rote learning over grit and hard work — corrupt politicians mean its hard to get things done legally. bribes rampant — low corporate governance — entry jobs pay less on average even accounting for PPP — many bad actors mean many excessive rules to regulate good actors — people value money > time which makes it difficult if youre the opposite — many trying to make a quick buck off of you — corporate culture is hierarchical and not meritocratic ("call me sir") — connections get you further than merit When you live abroad, you deal with immigration issues, some race issues, and being far from family but everything else is pretty well set up.

Many who try to make a career in trading, are woefully underprepared to succeed👇 Trading is a performance activity, and thus by definition takes years to become competent enough to consistently produce the sort of income required to build a sustainable career. They also usually go about it in the wrong way, thinking they’ll be earning a sustainable income in ‘no time’ I’ll lay out a few basic principles about becoming competent enough to consistently produce the sort of income required to build a sustainable practice in a performance activity. First, think of other performance activities where you could gain and income from and how. Music, Athletics, Sports, Boxing or MMA, Acting are a few that spring to mind. To earn an income in these fields you need to become exceptionally competent. Capable doesn’t cut it. Good doesn’t cut it. You need to become Great. Getting to Great in any of these fields takes years of practice, dedication, commitment, getting mentored, trying, failing, reviewing, assessing, competing at progressively higher levels: 👉Getting on a pathway for growth. This is a process which takes years. During that time, you won’t be earning. If you’re fortunate you may be the beneficiary of funding or sponsorship or may be being sustained by others. The comparisons to trading aren’t direct, but they work. A difference is you may start by using a system which seems to work at the start, but it’s really just fooling you into thinking you are trading. If someone gives you a ‘play by numbers’ piano book, you’re not a piano player. In the same way, being given a system doesn’t make you a trader. You can see the basic misconception hopefully. I’ve coached some incredible traders, including 3 of the traders featured in the Jack Schwager’s Unknown Market Wizards. They were the beneficiary of great mentoring, development processes, funding and support. It also didn’t happen overnight, but over a few years. I once asked one of them when they felt they could sustainably continue to do what they do, with a high degree of certainty that it is now their sustainable. He replied 6 years. - 6 years until he felt he was great at what he did. Some, not many, do it in less time, but many take much longer. Before I decided to move into coaching I was a trader for 25 years. I believe it took me 13 years to become great at it. I got that far because I had the benefit of being in paid trading roles at banks. I was able to learn from others and had the benefit of a good income to sustain me, but I wasn’t great. I like many people in similar roles get fooled because the franchise, not necessarily our skill, produces the income. I like most others in similar situations happily carry on with the illusion we are great, when we are rarely much better than good. I’m not going to go on, because this is a long enough tweet as it is. But you can find out more about how to improve yourself as a trader in my book 📕’Mastering the Mental Game of Trading. But I will add, that without reality check of what it requires to succeed, or a realistic understanding of what it takes to even have a chance to achieve success in any performance activity, then your chances of achieving that success diminish dramatically. I believe, contrary to what many believe, that anyone can succeed in trading. But most won’t because they are woefully overconfident in their estimate of their likelihood of succeeding, and do not give themselves a realistic chance to surviving to go through the learning journey to eventually have a chance of becoming ‘Great at it’. They want ‘Wins Now, not Tomorrow’. This cartoon best catches the attitude👇
@stat_sherpa Good thread. Would like to read more about sampling and ways to create good representative sample.
Some complain 'breakouts aren't working, I'm getting cut to ribbons." Then stop playing them until you see breakouts working! But no, you want action!! The problem is never the market, the problem and the solution is always your response to the market.
