We are open source, make it better. ;)
We'd like to apologize to @teej_m. This tweet was never meant as a personal attack, or a "fix it yourself" as many users understood. We welcome all criticism and work with the community every day to make the API better, constrained by being as backward compatible as possible.
@pandas_dev I tried to fix the most popular page of Pandas documentation so the example was actually usable and yall closed the PR. Lots of people told me they were confused by this.

@pandas_dev use getonboard.dev/chat/pandas-de… to navigate/learn the pandas repo more easily and start contributing
@pandas_dev 🔥💪🔥 100% with you - we ❤️ pandas
@pandas_dev That's the snarkiest response that couldn't ever be possible outside open source software
@pandas_dev ? Realistically you wouldn't accept a PR that rewrote the API. Are you suggesting a fork?
@pandas_dev There's nothing more desperate than trying to add changes to settled API of some OSS project
@pandas_dev allow duped column names with different aggregates in a groupby, for example: df.groupyby(['type'])[['sales',,'sales','sales']].agg({'sales':'sum','sales'::'mean','sales':'max'}) this would be so great.
@pandas_dev This is such a deflect of criticism, granted his criticism wasn't constructive in any way... but if someone came along and tried to improve your API it would be breaking changes all over the place you'd deny the PR or just let it rot.
@pandas_dev Love this reply 😃 Don’t complain, contribute ❤️
@pandas_dev Thank-you pandas for helping me get started with Python. Best decision of my life. You're a little slow but that's okay. You still get 95% of my daily job done.
@pandas_dev TFW you don't have a Hadley Wickham on your team
@pandas_dev But this was in response to someone saying that no one should implement a different API because it's standard 🤷
@pandas_dev This is the response 👏. The pandas community is doing great work.
