“$.99 cent only” founded in 1982 just closed all 371 locations. My Dad worked at a $.99 cent store as a cashier for 15 years in Inglewood, Ca. $.99 in 1982 is $3.16 today. Math & inflation eventually destroyed the $.99 concept. 👇🏽 valuetainment.com/99-cents-only-…
@patrickbetdavid California speedrunning self destruction
@patrickbetdavid Could they not rebrand to the $4.00 only store?

@patrickbetdavid The only one keeping it alive is Costco. $1.50 hot dog forever. $COST 🌭
@patrickbetdavid They long ago stopped only selling items for .99 cents. They mentioned shrink as one of the issues that led to their closure. The amount of theft going on today is mind boggling.
@patrickbetdavid These stores used to blow my mind when I was a kid. I couldn’t believe everything was a dollar.
@patrickbetdavid Inflation? 3/20/20 “We’re working out a tremendous financial package for them so they don’t work” “We’re asking people not to work. Social distancing, that new term that’s become probably the hottest term there is.”
@patrickbetdavid Generally, Liquidations are simply opportunities to reinvent a needed concept.🤔(Despite Global down-turn for Mgmt COs, & Pension Boards.) More difficult is the problem of PUBLIC THEFT. 🚨Gavin Newsom "theft permissions" are to blame; as (D)Party DESTROYS the State's poorest!
