Whatever your cause, if you damage art or block traffic to "draw attention" to it, you're actually hurting it, because you alienate everyone who'd been neutral up to this point.
i don't think you fully understand why people block traffic if you really think it's about "drawing attention" to it. it's not about garnering support, it's about disrupting lives and getting people mad enough that they demand our leaders do something about it. nobody who wasn't moved by photos of babies dying in incubators is going to *have a change of heart* because of a protest, we know that. that's not the point.
@paulg The only logical explanation is that these acts are done for in-group signaling. In other words: people do these things to enhance their status in their own social group.
