Nice satire of the degrowth arguments: "Degrowth would leave the world poor, miserable and polluted."

The Driver is doing the typing and can focus on small details. The Navigator keeps an eye on the landscape and can focus on the big picture. It combines two styles of thinking: The Driver can do "tactical thinking", while the Navigator can focus more on "strategic thinking".
Remote Pair Programming Good Practices: A Thread. Found the slides of a presentation that @qcoding and I gave to the entire CTO Org at Amex two years ago when we were both there. Thought it had a lot of great stuff that could still be useful to others. Why not share? 🧵
Today we (@EU_ScienceHub) launched the EU Observatory on Deforestation and Forest Degradation, which contains data and indicators on global forests and on the production and trade of products and forest risk commodities. Available here 👇 forest-observatory.ec.europa.eu

Questions on public fora are also an important source of feedback for software creators about where users are getting confused or running up against limitations. A closed loop with Bard or ChatGPT is maybe better for them in the short term, but what about over time?
Like, I think it’s cool that GPT seems to know a lot about seaborn, and also really annoying that it knows nothing about improvements I’ve worked hard to introduce in the past two years.
Professor Kevin Anderson is addressing all of us in very clear words: »We are heading towards 3 to 4°C of warming across this century, an absolute climate catastrophe for all species incl our own. And all we are doing so far is giving rhetoric and optimism and greenwash.« 🧵1/8

Looking at the current rates of coupling between GDP and carbon, the only way of reaching that objective would be to degrow GDP by between -1 and -2% per year.

We analyzed how the results of modeling exercises are conditional to the assumptions and worldviews of the modelers themselves. We recommend scientists to apply tools from Post Normal Science to avoid, or minimize, misunderstanding and politicization of their work. 4/6
