@peterharrisart @MiraGodard I've heard the Group of 7 referred to as "old dead white men's art." Ignorance. The idea of "mythology" would refer to the millions of Canadians who have never seen the wild, felt the raw power and beauty of the breadth of Canada. I have. In this painting both realities are true.
@peterharrisart @MiraGodard I always thought it had something to do with their emptiness - that the G7 rarely had people in them, and that was part of their iconish-ness. I do like some of the urban ones though, like this one by Lauren Harris (January Thaw, Edge of Town)...
