Quadrupole magnetic fields (image 1) produce strong focusing beams on charged particles, so they are used extensively in particle accelerators! the second image shows some winding configurations

wilson superconducting magnets 3.1 solenoids: the game is to produce desired B field with as 1) little wire possible while 2) not exceeding the current density limit. the way to do this is by tuning the width of the wires, shape of solenoid, and even partitioning the solenoid!

superconductors are cheaper to buy and run than conventional electromagnets, are more compact, and produce higher B. so it seems like if superconductors were more fungible, fusion tokamaks, particle accelerators, mass drivers, and magnetohydrodynamics would be easier to build!

machiavelli complained that contemporary armies were hella mid, referencing how during the consulate of torquatus and decius, the latter killed himself and former killed his son to build courage and conviction in the army. one can only wonder what he would say of twinks today!
