Domain expertise leads at the beginning, but follows the rest of the way. Some orgs throw design at a problem, watch them struggle to get their bearings, then say "design doesn't deliver value" and send in the usual suspects to take over and build the same thing as last time.

The client and I have gotten into an effective feedback loop: 1. I try and fail to squeeze the right information out of them 2. I produce a lo-fi "best guess" design 3. They point out all the things I got wrong, thereby answering my initial questions 4. I do the good design

Design decisions are questions, rather than statements. They exist in dialogue with an audience - how about *this*, how do you react to it? A design decision made as a statement fails to complete the loop, but so does one where the designer doesn't first conceive of a question.

So much of what is broken about HealthTech is folks understanding almost nothing of how healthcare economics actually work. We have to be reading about RAF, HEDIS, etc. (or buy someone a drink and get them to explain). And this is true AgTech, LegalTech, etc.

The story of two-factor authentication: 1. Attempt log in do important things 2. Reach for phone for 2FA code 3. Get sucked into a sea of notifications, feeds, and distractions for 25 minutes 4. Say "wait what the hell was I doing again?" 5. Code timed out, start process again
#ux is also what happens before and after the user interacts with the thing you made wireframes for.
