Details of Canada Disability Benefit program unveiled in #Budget2024 - no benefit until July 2025 - Disability Tax Credit eligibility - maximum annual benefit $2,400 - covers just half of persons with disabilities in poverty
@princepolity “But have you considered MAID?” If they string vulnerable people along long enough they won’t have to pay any benefits at all…
@princepolity The time is NOW to keep pressure on prov. govs, along w/feds to do the right thing and give proper financial support to those on disability. As 1 relative wrote them: "do you think their families and friends don't see this charade?", when gov's mention how they're 'helping'.
@princepolity Not surprising. They're not in this to help Canadians with disabilities. If they were they would have done so in the same bill for "working canadians". Just another performance.
@princepolity @laural_miles So much for "to be modelled on the GIS"
@princepolity It's totally insulting to disabled Canadians. It would have been better for them to have done nothing now. Liberal trolls are already all "but it's more $ for you... it's not federal responsibility"... The Liberals rushed in T2-MAiD & CERB, but dangled this insult for 5 years???
@princepolity So, they bascially did the bare minimum and intentionally excluded most of the people who need help the most. It took them 4 years to come up with next to nothing.
@princepolity Don't think for one second that the PROVINCIAL Govts were not watching this & as soon as it was announced, they started looking at all the ways they can CLAW EVERY CENT BACK $ FOR $. The Feds even gave them the time to draft & see it 'functioning in place' in time for July 2025.
@princepolity Everyone I know who has the DTC is able to work. They have extra costs but live pretty normal lives.
