Why Sora likely faded? A few thoughts:
1) Very expensive to run as video generation uses a lot of GPU power. Even short clips can cost dollars to produce, which makes it hard to offer at scale, especially for free.
2) High risk (deepfakes, copyright), as video is much harder to control than text or images. Misuse, fake content, and copyright issues become a big, ongoing cost and risk.
3) Focus on revenue (IPO coming). With a potential IPO, it makes sense to focus on products that are easier to monetize and more predictable such as text and code. Video is neither (yet).
Spotify is beta testing "Artist Profile Protection," a feature designed to help artists review and approve or decline releases before they appear on their profiles.
The feature aims to tackle the increasing problem of AI-generated songs being wrongly credited to real artists.
Artists enrolled in the beta who enable the protection will receive email notifications if music is delivered with their name attached.
Major labels, such as Sony, have already requested the removal of over 135,000 AI-generated songs impersonating their artists.
We’re saying goodbye to the Sora app. To everyone who created with Sora, shared it, and built community around it: thank you. What you made with Sora mattered, and we know this news is disappointing.
We’ll share more soon, including timelines for the app and API and details on
Google is currently conducting a limited test of AI-generated review replies within Google Business Profile.
Availability of the test is inconsistent across accounts and reviews, spotted in the U.S., Brazil, and India, but not widely in Europe.
While responding to reviews is crucial, the quality of a business's response to a review matters more than simply whether a business replies.
The feature was initially reported by local SEO specialist Chandan Mishra and amplified by Darren Shaw.
Startup Drops Near-Perfect AI Memory System Going Open Source👇
Honcho is an open-source AI memory system designed to prevent AI agents from "forgetting" past interactions, claiming to outperform major AI labs.
It achieves this by observing all user and agent communications, employing a reasoning layer to selectively store important information, and building dynamic "diachronic identities" or "peer cards" that capture different interaction personas.
It also features "automatic dreaming" for self-cleaning and self-modifying memory, ensuring relevance and accuracy over time, and offers self-hosting options to address privacy concerns.

The UK government has reversed its initial plan to allow AI models to be trained on copyrighted material without a license, following strong opposition from the creative sector.
The existing law clarifies that copyrighted material cannot be used for AI development and training without permission.
The AI industry, represented by Tech UK and the Startup Coalition, expressed concern that the lack of a clear framework could hinder UK AI innovation compared to international competitors.
The government is attempting to balance giving creatives control over their work with the need for AI models to be trained on various forms of content.

Val Kilmer will posthumously appear in the action-adventure film "As Deep As The Grave" using generative artificial intelligence, a year after his death.
The filmmakers are using "state-of-the-art generative AI technology" and have worked closely with Kilmer's estate and his daughter, Mercedes.
Kilmer had previously used an AI voice platform to develop an AI-generated version of his voice for "Top Gun: Maverick" after undergoing a tracheostomy for throat cancer.
The film, which is in post-production, is expected to be released later this year.

Remember the big dream of living in the metaverse through VR? Well, Meta's taking a step back. Their VR social platform, Horizon Worlds, is being phased out of Quest VR headsets by June 2026. It's a huge pivot for a vision that cost billions.
Why the change? Meta's Reality Labs, the VR part, has lost nearly $80 billion since 2020. A former employee even shared how internal missteps, like focusing on projects developers hadn't asked for, hurt development and wasted effort.
Now, Horizon Worlds will only exist as a mobile app. This shift means Meta is trying to find a better path forward for its online worlds, learning from its costly VR experiment and internal challenges.

A few weeks back, the first UK remote robotic surgery was successfully carried out from The London Clinic to Gibraltar.
The operation utilized the Toumai Robotic System, controlled via a console with a delay of only 0.06 seconds.
The connection between the UK console and the Gibraltar robot was maintained through fibre-optic cables with a backup 5G link.
A second test case has already been performed, and a third procedure will be live-streamed to 20,000 surgeons.
The NHS is prioritizing local robotic-assisted surgery, aiming for 500,000 robot-supported operations annually by 2035.

Nano Banana Prompt
A breathtaking, hyper-realistic close-up portrait captures a futuristic woman gazing directly forward with an intense, serene expression. Her beautiful features are adorned with intricate, glowing electric blue circuitry patterns that illuminate her skin, creating an ethereal, high-tech aesthetic. Her eyes burn with an equally vibrant, piercing blue light, mirroring the digital design. She has dark hair pulled back, and her attire hints at a sleek, dark, cyberpunk design with subtle glowing accents. The background is a dark, expansive digital realm, filled with streams of falling, luminous blue binary code, giving the impression of a data matrix or a technological rain. The lighting is dramatic and low-key, with the intense blue glow being the primary light source, creating sharp contrasts and a mysterious, powerful mood.
Perplexity Computer is now on Android.
Imagine you’re outside. Not at your desk. No tabs open. No setup.
You have an idea (something you’d normally park for later because it needs “proper time”).
Instead of saving it… you just hand it off.
Not:
“tell me about this”
But:
“go figure this out properly”
And it does.
What makes this different is you’re not guiding it step by step.
You’re not thinking:
- which models should I use
- what’s the next prompt
- how do I structure this
You’re just defining the outcome.
That’s why the Android part matters.
It removes the friction between:
having an idea → doing something with it
You don’t need to be “in work mode”.
You can be anywhere, start something properly, and let it run.
You don’t really see it.
You just come back to something more complete than you expected.
It still feels early.
A bit unpredictable at times.
But the direction is obvious:
You stop using AI like a tool you operate…
and start using it like something you delegate to.
