@AdamCrafton_@mehdirhasan It’s hot air mate. He’s got nothing to lose saying this. Keeps the hype train moving and capital flowing into Microsoft. In 18 months, nobody pulls this clip up, goes “you got this wrong” and gets off, if everyone else stays onboard. Short-term, low risk, high reward statement
@philippilk You got this wrong. As well as the Jerusalem Cross on his chest he’s got Deus Vult along his bicep. That’s been adopted by white supremacist groups. You’re kind of being as patronising as the “American Liberals” you criticise. Like the pod but calling out this misrepresentation.
@ShaykhSulaiman This is awful. I truly hope she’s okay.
But your sensationalised caption sucks.
It signals racial undertones and implies cultural backwardness. Harassment is global, not exclusive to India.
I value your Gaza reporting but this is poor.
You should caption with more care.
I cannot remember the last time Indonesia used stronger language on a matter of global security:
Foreign Minister Retno affirms ICJ jurisdiction to give Advisory Opinion.
"... no country is above the law. And the sanctity of this Court must be upheld.
Indonesia believes that this legal motion is also a motion of global conscience."
Rebuffs the US view that giving an Advisory Opinion would damage any ongoing peace effort:
"...there is no viable peace process to be undermined. Israel has been consistently obstructing a negotiated Two-State solution...With such strong resistance from Israel to stop its colonial project and its “fait accompli" unilateral actions, no peace process will viably bring a just, lasting, and comprehensive solution. After all, negotiation with someone holding a gun against your head is not a negotiation at all."
US actions such as vetoing ceasefire resolutions and opposing ICJ advisory opinion on Palestine (after rejecting South Africa's "genocide" filing) will stoke anti-American sentiment in Indonesia, the world's 4th largest nation, largest Muslim-majority nation, and otherwise friendly to US, key to US Indo-Pacific strategy. It has very good relations with US, including moves to create a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Keep in mind these words come from the outgoing Indonesian govt. not looking for reelection, hence not mainly pandering to domestic Islamic voters.
Indonesia is symptomatic of how isolated the US is in Global South now. It's more than over Iraq invasion or any other conflict in memory.
On implications for world order, note that on Ukraine, most of Global South voted with the US on principle of territorial integrity, hence supporting int law & 'rules based order'; on Gaza-Palestine, majority of Global South upholds int law and 'rules-based order' against the US position.
Who is the bigger upholders of rules? Why would a 'post-western' world be lawless, as establishment western pundits fear?

@RestIsPolitics@campbellclaret@RoryStewartUK I’m planning on applying to work within the SIS after my MA and was wondering what your experiences were working alongside people who belonged to the institution? What was the impression you guys got about the intelligence world? Would you recommend the line of work? Thanks :)
