Despite increasing awareness of the risk and protective factors for ED and efficacious approaches to treat symptoms, a significant treatment gap remains. Indeed, it is estimated that only 25% of individuals with an ED receive treatment. (Hart et al., 2011; Lee et al., 2017).

Up to 10% of individuals in Australia will experience an eating disorder (ED) in their lifetime (NEDC, 2012). EDs (including sub-clinical EDs) are associated with high levels of medical and psychological comorbidities and poor quality of life (Griffiths et al., 2016; NEDC, 2012).
