Many will try to frame Lebanon's new PM Nawaf Salam @nawafasalam acc. to their agendas. He's neither anti-Hezbollah nor anti-Israel; neither pro-US nor pro-Iran. He's a Lebanese public servant, a law scholar, diplomat who's different from other PMs in Lebanon in last 3 decades..

Austin Tice, a former U.S. Marine and freelance journalist, is one of the longest-held American hostages abroad, after being abducted during a 2012 reporting trip in Syria. After the fall of the brutal Assad regime, Austin's mother, Debra, has renewed hope that her son will be found. PBS News Hour's @IAmAmnaNawaz spoke to Debra Tice Tuesday about her son and the campaign to find him. "Those first days, of course, when people were able to go into the prison and find their loved ones and families could be reunited, there was just a jubilee with that," Debra said. "And that is the kind of thing that just has to be contagious." As thousands of prisoners were freed after rebels overthrew President Bashar al-Assad, Israel launched a bombing campaign in Syria. Debra sent a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, asking him to pause airstrikes around Mount Qasioun, a mountain outside of Damascus. She said she had credible information that Austin was held in a prison there. Netanyahu responded Wednesday, reportedly saying Israel has been coordinating with the U.S. and that the IDF is "not active" in the area where Austin may be held.

After propping up a dictator and helping him murder his own people, Iran is now asking those who toppled Assad to repay his debt. Maybe the new authorities in Damascus should ask Tehran for billions in compensation for wrecking Syria.

ICRC Syria says it registered 35,000 cases of people gone missing in #Syria in the past 13 years Behind every case, there is a family and excruciating pain that only gets worse as years go by. This week, as prisons opened and detainees released, these families lived through an emotionally trying moment—a moment filled with hope but also with anguish, anger, and frustration. ICRC is urgently calling on all parties to prevent the destruction of crucial records, like arrest logs; lists of detainees or deceased persons; and court and hospital records.

The only flag that belongs on that land is that of the cedars of Lebanon- not Israel, not Iran, nor Hezbollah’s. Through actions & words, Natenyahu risks breathing new life into a Hezbollah that is increasingly under pressure. Stop.

A sleepless night from hell in Beirut as Israeli jets and drones strike target southern suburbs more than 25 times. Massive explosions and secondary blasts. One of the heaviest nights of so far. This city is barely 20Km2, 60Km2 for greater Beirut.
